So does dodgy turntablism. Silly volume cutting or anything that effects the audio significantly that is executed poorly.

Good use of EQ or filters otherwise let the tunes talk.

There are, of course rare exceptions where perhaps you throw an echo over a filter on tune A as tune B descends into a breakdown or something, but otherwise leave it alone.

I think using effects on its own with out understanding what its purpose is, is like showing your ignorance.

But I think when one does music production do you really find out how effects work.

Therefore when playing with effects do you know when to use them or not. That's why the top DJ's can use them with out you knowing they using them
