I seriously cannot tell the difference between one song and another. Not a fan of this type of dubstep either.

I my self find it hard to like music that sounds good only on certain platform, this new dupstep is good on the dance floor but hard to listen to otherwise.

This is one niche genre I just cannot get into. It sounds the same between songs and artists, and also bores me on the dance floor. I heard my neighbor blasting Skrillex one day, and it sounded more like a domestic dispute than music.

As far as "dubstep" goes, I'll stick to Burial.

As far as EDM goes in general...I'm feeling like as producers it's our duty to inject the LIFE back into it. By life, I am of course referring to EWF:

As with a lot of music most of the widely known stuff (Skrillex and clones) is pretty crap. Funny because that was not even close to the original vibe and style of dubstep, just what turned out to blow up.

as discussed in numerous other threads, y'all talking about BROstep, a deviation of DUBstep. burial, clubroot, james blake, mount kimbie, LV, koreless....the former two are more classic examples of dubstep, while the latter bunch are more exciting (in my opinion) deviations than the angry noise wank excreted by the likes of (new) rusko, skrillex, etc

If you can not tell the different between songs and genres then you should give up spinning and producing!

Pretty much the only two songs that were dub-step on that list were xKore's.

Skrillex is not really Dub-step, at least not in the way the genre is defined by the artists who first started producing it. However, it may be what dub-step is becoming...

Now go with this one for a second. I'm sure we have all met someone who could not tell the diff between Trance and Euro and i am sure we have all heard electronic music constantly called techno by ignorant people. To the untrained ear all these sounds do sounds similar. however, do not go on hypocritical rants about how a genre of music, and/or artist all sounding the same and then preach to others about how they no nothing on the very same forum.

genres are defined by the people that listen and label the music. soundtrack music is not classical. Classical music from 1950 isn't classical. It doesnt matter. Like trademarks, the second something is known as something, that is its trademark or in this case, genre.

so skrillex is indeed dubstep. Because that is what everyone calls it.

Since when is it a prerequisite to know the difference between genres before one can spin or make music? When it comes to dance music, I'm probably the most genre-stupid person on this forum, if not the entire planet, but that's not going to stop me from making music.

the old dubstep in my opinion offered nothing production wise. yes the new stuff is annoying but at least it offered something new and unfortunately everyone is milking it so hard, the wobble tit is glowing red.

the only old song worth playing that is dubstep is Azzido da bass. That pretty much encapsulates 10 years of dubstep. Although not really dubstep but all the production components were set there for the next decade. Tempo I suppose was the only difference.
