And it was great to see you and Jordan S. out there. I rarely get out much, but couldnt miss a show of that caliber.
Well put in regards to vegas. Sad to hear you have had to move back. I'll admit that ICE did have something special. I was there from 2003-2005 every big weekend and those are some of the best vegas trips I have recorded.
Ice was tits!!
I remember sitting inside one of Ice's Funktion 1 speakers for a Digweed set like 5+ years ago
Ice was amazing but it was almost like an underground though. Was just a club for the sake of being a club. Didn't get your typical Vegas crowd there. Most clubs in Vegas now are in hotel/casinos which have other motivations for throwing events.

No. The guy who wrote that article, Philip Sherburne, is one of the most respected journalists in EDM history. He even had a podcast on RA where they just talked to him about his take on electronic music for an hour.
He's not personally comparing Vegas to Ibiza, but noting that vegas has been trying to push that angle with the recent development of superclubs and world class DJ residencies. Obviously it's not Ibiza and he even calls it a ridiculous comparison in the quoted sentence. You guys have to look at this article for what it is: a 2 page primer on the recent mainstream explosion of EDM in the US for a mainstream audience who really doesn't know shit. From that perspective I think it's totally fine.
No comparison between the 2 countries as far as EDM goes that's for sure.
In the defense of Vegas though, the scene is still relatively new I suppose compared to other large cities in America. In time maybe it's sound will mature but most of the clubs are filled with tourists who don't know anything about the music they just want a Vegas experience. I can respect that I just wish there were a few spots doing it proper other than afterhours.
+1 on Drais and Artisan being a good place, Artisan is dope and that venue is pretty sick. Soundsystem needs an upgrade though
For alot of touring DJs Vegas has been rewarding for them getting exposure here in the states, I guess that's a good thing and I doubt they get negotiated on any contracts because there is so much money out here in clubs. At the end of the day people go to a club to unwind and party, Vegas, LA, Miami, NYC all do it different and hopefully one day Vegas will get it's respect from the purists.
I'm going to put together a new mix soon and see where it gets me out here I can't conform to the main room Las Vegas house sound so I will be looking for some afterhour love.

When I visited Vegas, I stayed at Bills where Drai was. From what I heard, they play more underground stuff there. Unfortunately, my body never adjusted to the time zone and I was always too tired to go. The free drinks at casinos didn't help me either haha.

As a person who has been to both places multiple times, I can say that Vegas does not have a true feeling of being in a place that caters to dance music fans... It's more like a tourist town that people come to drink their faces off and lose tons of money gambling. The "clubbing" is secondary and is basically a complete joke as it caters 100% to those mainstream tourists that know nothing about music, let alone dance music.
When's the last time anyone heard an "epic" set come out of Vegas anyway?
If Vegas wants to be considered the "new Ibiza," Ice (or something like it) needs to reopen, along with other similar clubs, and they need weekly residencies at least every other night of the week at good clubs where they are NOT playing rap / r&b / hip hop prior to playing trance (on the same night).
All in all, Vegas sucks for dance music and would not recommend it to anyone unless they just wanted an average experience which could be pretty much replicated in any 2nd rate city throughout the rest of the US at probably a lesser price. Vegas is cool, but just not for dance music.
