yes and no. tracklists are another level of fun from the actual listening. the dates, the labels, the artist names and tracks form this nice semantic chaos that's only loosely translatable to the actual mix. sometimes my eyebrows threaten to jump off my face when i come across something really interesting. then i start admiring that piece of work. prolly is only good for nerds (kinda like reading a really well-chosen bibliography).

you know who Glenn Gould is? very famous canadian pianist, one of the most skilled ever to be recorded -- he said he preferred reading music to playing it.

also reading is not limited to text. any kind of negotiation can be described as reading, like when you "read" someone's face. in improvisational music, you could also "read" the general direction of the set, and then introduce yourself into it, either adding to or changing the direction.
