They do make TVs in that range with 1080p. Actually I found a really nice one for $400, a Samsung. But it seems the problem is very poor image from angles.

You can read some pretty favorable reviews at Tigerdirect.

I'm not sure about the exact science behind it, but I have a 1080p 120hz refresh rate LCD tv and you definitely notice the refresh rate quite a bit between 60 and 120.

I don't know if this is accurate, but what I've heard is that movies and television shows are shot at 24 frames per second. This divides evenly into 120, but not into 60, so when it is played at 60hz, the content is actually being edited by the tv. If you look at them side by side, the 120 (or 240)hz refresh rates make everything look more "real." Motion looks more fluid, as if you're watching it actually happen through a window, whereas the 60hz refresh rate looks like you're watching a recording of it.

Some people I've talked to actually found it to be kind of weird looking at first, almost like a home movie instead of a professionally filmed one, and I admit it even looked that way for me at first as well. You do get used to it though, and once you've used a 120hz refresh rate tv for awhile, the 60 just doesn't really look right.

Also, I'd go for an LED tv because they use way less power, and I believe they're able to achieve a deeper black than LCD (although LCD's have come a long way in that regard).

The last two LCD tv's I've had were LGs, and I love them, so that's what I'd recommend both for best value and quality. The only thing that I've heard gripes about with them is that sometimes the audio can get out of sync with the picture if you're not playing it through a surround sound system.

Really? I know that most games today don't have HUDs either, at least not ones that are always on the screen. But I play a lot of fighting/racing games so IDK. I'd like to read more about that actually.

Jew

I would say that at the 400$ price point that this thread does not matter. I'm not being mean, but pretty much anything that you buy will fit your needs...because it was 400 bucks.

I almost want to tell you to buy at a pawn shop. It may not be new, but use the jewness to negotiate for the best.
