I'm talking about the fact that a lot of the producers whose tracks I tend to play have derived much of their inspiration from earlier progressive house DJs and the music they played. Whatever, I don't necessarily disagree with you, and you're not wrong about me and progressive house producers/DJs in general (well, there we go again, so for lack of a better term this time) not wanting to be associated with this garbage sound.

EDIT: To answer your question, the only stuff I can think of recently that really qualifies would be some stuff by the Desert Dwellers, their combination of dubby bass, tribal percussion and cyber-hippy vibes being quite close to the classic progressive sound. It does seem oxymoronic to say something is "progressive house" for sounding 15-20 years old, though.

Debatable. I've certainly heard it said that the term "progressive house" vanished in the mid-90s and came back around 1997. I had one rambling ex-clubber email me excitedly about epic house recently and he claimed Slacker was the producer that got everyone talking about "progressive house" again. Simon Reynolds also mentions how progressive re-emerged after a hiatus in the late-90s, stripped of its original connotations and signifying energetic music for heterosexual males (his words).
The 15-20 thing was just a generalisation. Nobody was calling it progressive house in 1991 either.

Yeah actually, pretty close. Very nice track too. Ironically, Beatport just labels it "house". I don't think most modern progressive has the groove of the real thing, though. Early progressive house was heavily influenced by dub, like almost all early British dance music, which was especially prominent in the basslines. If a track has housey percussion, dubby bass, a reasonable amount of energy and some atmospheric/hippy vibes I'd call that progressive house. Most of the producers you play have never bought a dub record in their life and their tracks have very angular and techy percussion.
haha fair enough. but I'll still refer to it as such as it makes things easier. I guess what this guy is doing isn't so different after all. His music still sucks though
