theres a limit to it all, i like progressive! u may think not, but you think wrong if you do! why do you think i like matt hardwick etc. anyway, with progressive, it is easy to be blinded by what is god and what is not, because to an untrained ear it "all sounds the same" obviously it doesnt if you are into it. but some tracks with no realy structure, maybe a gimmicky effect or progressive "melody" to make it sound and attrctive track to the non prog listener! this stuff i hate! specially when there is so much quality stuff out there!
also (not having a dig @ u here TS but u have raised my point) people hold such stereotypical views about people who like dumonde/flutlicht/shokk!!! i have noticed this greatly. but at the end of the day their hard stuff greatly differs from you stereotypical hard, yet it is still viewd the same as other hard stuff? like for instance everything thing all i listen to his hardtrance which makes me laugh a lot
edit: also no offence to tech, but i think too many people think prog is a way forward from trance regardless. ive been in the prog pond and had a little paddle, now and then i like to dip my feet in again but i will never go for a swim!

I never used to like progressive but lately I've goten into it. I'll admit that it takes an advanced ear to listen to it though...it's kinda weird how things go in this genre. Most of us start by listening to cheesy eurodance and move to the typical trance and then you advance to progressive. |
I admit Ive had the same. I was originally into Goa and Techno, before Uplifting trance came out. Then got primarily into Uplifting trance, and couldnt stand the progressive stuff. But for the past 4 or 5 months I cant get enough of the stuff. I thinks is a combination of my musical tastes evolving, and the sound of progressive evolving. I never knocked it (or at least dont remember if I did), and try not to put down anything else either, cause if it has been released, or put on radio, someone out there likes it.
Progressive isnt the final outcome, neither is Goa or Uplifting trance. Its just another sound. All musical genres will evolve to provide a fresh sound to its listeners, and we must be open to such change.
Even threads like Tiesto, or Oakenfold or whoever sucks now are lame, because we have to respect the artists that contributed so much to the scene. For underground music to have a following, it has to have a mainstream component, or else it will have no fan base. Although people may not like the way Tiesto, or Oakie, or another DJ sound now, they shouldnt flame them.
