I think it's because trance fans take trance way too seriously, and praise it for being emotional and melodic...It is, but in the simplest terms imaginable.

Just want to point out that modern fart noise house is not the true nature of electro. If you want to take it back to real electro you get titles like this, which are still being released today and stuff like this is levels above

There is a connection - listen to the synthbass that enters at 0:32
Heavy sawtooth basslines have been a feature of electro since its inception, just like how plucks and pads have been a feature of trance music before it even had beats (kraut/ambient)

Eh you're really grasping there.
This music I posted sounds like its conducted from a spaceship. Modern popular obnoxious electro does not posess that aesthetic whatsoever.

I think people do pick on house and electro house songs for having the same sound. I am part of a house forum and I hear complaints about prog house sounding too generic nowadays, kind of like how I hear the same complaint about trance on this board. And electro house, well don't get me started on that, that is the worst genre imo but to each his own.

Sure you are right about that, but my point was just that lots of early electro had big "farty" basslines - maybe not so much sidechain compression and vst presets, but there is some kind of tenuous connection there

Who, exactly, is picking on trance for sounding the same? Is it those house and electro people, whose music all sounds the same, or just various people?
Is it those progressive fucking rockers? Because they have no fucking room to talk! None!

Trance.nu(which I know is dead but the dicks there do). Anjunabeats and their shitty forum. And offcourse, a lot of the house fans who have tuned into trance.

Who are we talking about when you say "the community"? I'm pretty sure there isn't some unified electronic music community that agrees on anything about any style of music. Techno fans, drum 'n bass fans, trance fans, house fans... they all have completely different points of reference, different types of party, different tastes.
Pretty much a lot of the people who are "bored" of the sound. I yawn at those people. Even a few producers have complained about producers using the "same" sounds.
I'll name one producer. Mike foyle who is one of those guys who has accused trance of sounding all the same.If you ever meet mike foyle don't talk to him, he's a real douchebag.

That's a cool track I'll admit. However, sounds more electronish/technnoish than electro. The problem is the genre has a horribly detuned synth that really makes you feel sick to be honest.

Really? I've heard the opposite.House music is still the most preferred genre. People and producers and djs wanna hear a completely different genre.

Well then it's probably because they don't listen to house or electro. Why would they complain about something they aren't interested in? Most of these people are entirely concerned with the quality of trance music - they want it to improve.

I commented on his facebook fanpage and he blocks me. He thinks I am old "fashioned" and deletes my comment.

So is Mike Foyle the "community"? Why should Mike Foyle care about house or electro? Mike Foyle makes trance. What has Mike Foyle blocking you on Facebook got to do with this thread?
