Essential Loops & Effects - has around 100 hihat loops IIRC.

Are the Penton loops dry? forgot to put that in the original post.
I had a listen to it and it sounds cool, I cant find any details on sounds to sample whether all the loops/effects are dry.

purchased the Thomas Penton essential loops and fx vol 2 last night.
Im a little disappointed.

Although a lot of the hi hat loops have some really cool things goin on, a majority of them have hits on the 2 and 4 downbeats (such as claps for example), a lot of them are also made up of "full loops" which have just been high passed so you can still hear the kicks.
This section of the library should be renames "hi hat loops with a dash of everything else".

The sound effects section again has some great stuff but most of the samples have reverb on them.

A lot of the percussion loops also have reverb on them, and there's a few which have noticeable increases in tape noise being present, to the point of almost being unusable.

To me it seems as though this pack has been somewhat thrown together.

oh well, you live and learn I guess,

Im sure his single hits sample libraries are better (hope so anyway).

Throw the loop into ableton/exs24 or whatever sampler you may have. There is an option to slice audio to midi notes. It will map the slices to keyboard notes. You can then just get rid of the hits you don't like.

I just take the parts I like. I assume most people do these days. Most of the time they contain kicks/snares/claps. I'm sure I'm pointing out the obvious but maybe someone missed it, I mute the parts where the clap or kick is audible and sometimes replace it with other parts of the same loop to keep it flowing. At other times it is good to just keep the loop muted on the full counts so you can focus on the kick/clap impact and get a bit more space in your mix.
