on one hand - I see exactly where you're coming from.

but on the other hand - you keep referencing how he's the number 24 dj, as though to say 'he should be held to a higher standard'. you can't really believe that, can you??? i'm not referencing this years results right now but my guess is - you'll pay 40 bucks or more pr night to see say 10 of the top 24 on that list and get the same hip/hop - pop mashups in their sets because that's just how it is.

maybe you thought it was lame of him but playing that kind of set in hollywood, at playhouse, is exactly waht was expected of him! and i'm sure most of the peopel there ate it all up.

I would happily pay a few hundred bucks to see him at sensation... it's the principle of him making lots and putting in zero.

and yes, I actually do believe that he should be held to a much higher standard... with great success and high ranking comes great responsibility...

sasha and digweed, tegnalia, hernan cattaneo... so many dj's of that magnitude understand the responsibility they hold and realize the amount of effort they put into it ripples into the future of dance music... hence them playing such great tracks that no one has ever heard (yet)... and they understand that their sets mark a president of the direction where dance music goes...

Crap falls downward... and if it came from the #1 to the #100 and all the way down... well yeah... it would all collapse under the simple rule that CRAP started from the top and it all turned into shit...

there's already signs of that with the recent dj mag poll...

edit: making that list wether it was skill, sacrifice, or luck... you should definitely understand what it really means... you're now a leader... other dj's will follow and imitate... no one finds this scary for dance music? I can't possibly be the only one that thought the recent poll was humiliating.

Woooo, we need to sit down and have a long talk. It seems like you're being misled at what the whole DJ Mag poll represents. It's merely a popularity contest and nothing more. If you noticed, none of those DJ's you mentioned even made the Top 50, but does that matter? No, not really, because they have a solid fanbase and huge respect around the world. You cannot compare those type of acts with these other ones like Hardwell, David Guetta, Afrojack, Avicii, etc. who are simply creating music for the masses.

You’re talking about two totally different things here. I agree that he is a great producer but he is not equally the same as a DJ. i agree with omega1n, for the longest time i thought dj's play a certain set for the 'hollywood, OC, whatever' crowd, but at the end of the day the majority of the set is the same as what they would play anywhere else.

there is SOME exception, maybe a track here and there, but what you see in hollywood is pretty much what you will get anywhere else in the world.

at the end of the day, hollywood is one night out of a long schedule, i don't see them specifically changing the programming just for one night.

QFT man. Look at DJmag top 10 and tell me anyone there is supposed to be "deep" or forward thinking. Hardwell plays pop music and expecting otherwise is ridiculous.
