I love when people give me totally legitimate reason to let the demon out |
This guy had it coming - he was a complete bastard with pretty much everyone that crossed his path: he studied for a whole year in my fiancée's colony school - saying he would pay the fees the following month (but left without paying a single cent), and nearly got all everybody from outside the colony banned; he then went to another colony school (this time as a teacher for introductory courses) and well aware of how non-confrontational the people there are, he leeched everyone as much as he could, so much so that he was paid two hundred dollars to take a specialisation course somewhere else and ditched the old school that had sponsored him the moment he realised he could work elsewhere; then we became workmates...
I knew his reputation, but I'm all for giving people second chance, lest I misjudge them. So one day I had to fill in for him on my day off, and he was supposed to pay me directly. He never did. Roughly at the same time, he threw a fit in front of our bosses because I addressed him by a nickname he told me and a few colleagues about (not offensive or anything). That's when I decided to take revenge.
The guy is a wimp, and he's afraid shitless of our current bosses, because they're really strict and, if you mess up with them, you'd better change your career, because they're also very well connected. So, I told him he owed me money (he said he had no idea) and promised he'd pay me the following week. And it went on for a whole month. The day before payday, I mentioned this to a colleague knowing that our bosses would overhear the conversation. Lo and behold, they scolded him, took his money directly, and paid me what the money he owed.
The only time he looked at me after that, I had such an schadenfreudful smirk on my face he never even greeted me again
(also, now that the influential people around us know he's not trustworthy, his dirt is "showing up" in such an impressive pace that I believe it's just a matter of time until he can't find a job teaching Japanese language... the only thing he knows other than theology)

I hate gypsies and my home country is sliding toward an authoritarian government that may rid of them and the jews as well. Hungary is setting a standard for all of Europe by denying their role in the holocaust, which could establish an unfortunate surge of antisemitic sentiment across my blessed land. I don't agree with this, but if the ruling party gets rid of the gypsy filth from our sacred land, then I must support them 100%.
This is just a part of my dark side. I am not a good person.

You see, I'm tolerant and whatnot, but I couldn't let him screw people over like that, specially because some of the people he took advantage of were lovely individuals who were taught not to be confrontational... someone had to do something about it!

I'm glad to see that you don't equate being good with being weak. I actually resent nice, decent people who let bad things happen, because they perpetuate the idea that kindness = weakness. I think you have to be very strong to stand up for what's right.

You can't support bringing undue persecution on people who don't deserve it (Jews, in this case) just because it would also come down on those you have legitimate issues with.
Back on topic here, I do see myself as a good person. I actually like myself a lot. It it only because I can acknowledge my dark side and allow it to be entertained in ways that do not harm others that I maintain that positive self image. To ignore it would be like painting over rust, and it would eat me from inside. C'mon, I know it's not that common, but can anyone else relate?

I can't say that is entirely true.
