Same with me, always have few channels (3~6) with Sylenth lead, pad, fx and/or bass line.

Cheers.

Last trance track I did had 44 instances of Sylenth

Luckily for me, it's CPU efficient.....

I always have had that impression, don't enjoy using it for this reason. I'm more apt to go into Zebra or Vanguard than Sylenth.

IMHO the only interface I've came across more irritating than Sylenth is Albino's.

but if i needed a typical thick unison detuned sound, i would go to sylenth. I think that is what tehlord meant by its use. The FX are also better than average. one thing that i care about is distortion and saturation and it has a pretty good on board effect.

IT doesn't take long either. My favorite synths, reaktor and Zebra can take a while to setup how you want it.

Pretty much it really.

The distortion is really great, the only other synth I have that comes close is dune or karmaFX, although that tends to be left alone as it confuses me. The reverb on sylenth is a bit crap but I'd never use an onboard anyway.

Retrig is a genius touch and the filters are brilliant too.

I have to say I love sylenth, I use it for all my basses, plucks and leads I should really try some other synths but don't want to have lots and lots of vst synths that I don't use or understands how to use. I always try to init my presets and create my own sounds or if there is a preset that I think could work well in my track I have a look how it has been made init the preset and try to recreate something similar that will fit within my track.

today was the first day I actually played w/ Sylenth all day.. It was awesome!! I started about 2pm and in my main speakers, grabbed my keyboard and pounded out a little melody. Then from there, rewired ReDrum into Ableton, created a drum loop (which doesn't show up to well in this clip) and went to town. I love Sylenth!! What a beast!!

Black keys by DJRYAN™

EDIT:

Alright, so I got back into it and did some additional work to the loop. I corrected the melody, pumped the bass, created a ping pong effect on a synth, which now slices through the mix. Staggered the drums, and some other stuff.

I had to buy it to be able to open some files I got sent.

I used to praise it, but I am now having a lot of mixing issues because of its impotent filter and drive.

And most horribly, it has no hardsync.

A waste of time and money. I'll stick to other synths most of the time.

I know of this guy Mark Denken who uses only Sylenth. You be the judge.

This mostly for me. Sometimes I find myself in need of more modulation features. It does come in handy every once in a while, surely not my best investment though.
