Can't wait to hear jay's response if he's still working for them.

Could just be an observation, but recently Footwork's attendance has been hitting capacity on a more frequent basis. I'm sure the INK direction with bookings has a lot to do with it....

I agree their bookings have been getting cheesier and going downhill in terms of actual quality but I don't agree they're going out of business anytime soon. The busiest nights by far are the cheesiest bookings so imo they're only doing what brings them the most profits. As a corporation that's (unfortunately for us) called doing your job.

it started with circa vs guv competition to see who can kill of who first. Guv won but they were left with shitload of commercial djs and there's pretty much no going back now.

three or four years ago techno was the big thing....hence why they booked techno....cheese is the new big thing and so they book cheese.

I don't know what night you went, but the crowd at FW has always been stellar when I go. Sound depends on how loud they run it. Quality seems to be prime at a certain volume, usually before 1am and later on in the night it always seems to get turned up, and then the distortion kicks in.

Music, of course, is entirely dependent on the DJ spinning and/or your personal taste, so I feel like that's a silly thing to point out. Platform nights are my go-to, and I always love JB's openers.

That all said, to claim that a club that holds 200 (ish?) patrons is the "force to be reckoned" sounds a little ridiculous to me too.

As mentioned, t'was just my opinion, totally open to opposition. I tend to like a bit of a freakshow when I go out, I like jacking Techno and House, and I like my speakers loud, clear and bass-heavy. I gave FW one last chance with Carl Craig back in Oct, 2010, and none of the above were present - swore off the place after that.

Most T.O. venues are just a bit too staid for my taste - they seem to do well enough without my attendance, so it's nothing anyone needs to get in a knot over, really.

Charles is quite a brilliant business man....diversifying into new product lines/revenue streams is natural for someone at that level. The Guvernment's days are literally numbered; look no further than the Waterfront Toronto development plans. Charles has obviously moved on to different things, and good for him.
