I've now got the impulse49 from novation, which is a big improvement over from the SL range, great keybed and nice "teletubbie" style knobs

hahaha.

I think the impulse is gonna be the one to be honest.

I just keep going back to the Akai for some reason and I cant work out why!!!!.

I do like the looks of the impulse thou overall and also I do like some features of the automap but I must also admit some bits are a little poor at times.

do you dislike anything about the impulse Raphie

cheers

It really depends on how much you want to spend and if you're going to use the keyboard to actually play or just stab away at basslines and the odd chord.

I think the Impulse49 is great for me, still don't use the automap functions much, but i've changed the layout for NEXUS and Massive and it works like a charm, massive 8 MACRO knobs are mirrored on the 8 knobs on the right.

The sliders on the left are either MIXER or Midi, not using them AT ALL.
I've mapped the transport buttons but since i'm used to Cubase keyboard shortcuts not using them either.

so it comes down to keybed, pichwheel and modwheel which are great.

I must admit its more stabs, basses etc not to really play the full keyboard. That doesnt really matter too much tmo be honest.

I want to spend around £250ish but something which is solid, folws well and has the best functions for intergration to logic to allow me to work smooth.

I only use a full computer set-up with hardly no outboard gear so just something to make things work together nicely.

I still keep looking at the axiom pro also.

i need to make a decision and its doing my head in. hahahaha

thanks guys, appreciate ur help

I wouldn't bother with the Pro over the standard Axiom as the main difference is their own version of automap. Do you really want to pay extra for having it tell you which button does what function?

If it were my money I'd just go for the Axiom or even the Oxygen. I use an Oxygen for basic input, but the other controls are useful for mapping. It's solid and it'll do exactly what you need, especially if you don't really play.

I'm a huge fan of the Axiom Series by M-Audio. You should definitely try those out.

Oh, and I mean the Axiom Series, not the Axiom Pros. Axiom Pros are the greatest failure as an invention known to mankind.

I have an Impulse 25 and it sounds like it will suit your needs perfectly. It feels really good IMO; can't speak to the automap because I don't really use it (but ya, the DLL duplication is annoying).
