I can't believe I have never seen this thread..
Well blame me for not having been on TA for ages.
There is a lot to it which led me to take the decision I took in 2009, first shutting the site for the nu-style development of the genre then making it invite-only basis followed by completely shutting it 2 years on
The reasons for my decisions are the following
- The genre of today has no resemblance to what it once was however (unlike trance) the genre is being held "hostage" by a small number of organisations & labels therefore blocking any push to take it into another direction
- The people who listen to the genre today generally do not respect nor enjoy the roots of the genre
- The amount of criminal behaviour, blackmail, extortion on behalf of organisations and labels is absolutely shocking and when trying to bring these issues to daylight you can expect repercussions which have gravely affected my life in a negative way
- On a more subjective note, the music I once used to love has turned into a genre that I hate with a passion (and can still say that 5 years on)
It continues to surprise me that the nu-style (that came on in 2007) is still popular and appreciated whereas it is a massive re-run of the same template over and over, and over and over, and over and over again. How do crowds not go tired of it?
As for the OP, the quote posted is true and I have evidence of multiple events and cases that can be produced when necessary
I've been trying to develop the GHF community more as an all-round website including other genres (firstly hardcore, hardtechno & hardtrance but more recently have added trance, dubstep, house, DnB, and many more!) however am realising that this is quite hard when being faced with the current amount of traffic going through social media
