Yeah, this is always a tough question, how to generate groove/movement in my track or any track??? --> there is not an easy answer to it, different elements would work for different tracks, in your case, probably (just because I don't really know what changes you are planing to do in the future), some blend between drums+bass (combo of low/mid and high bass) line and sub or additional sound/FX placement in right time and right way lol, if you know what I mean?

Everything you do or will do is to support this "listener experience" with dynamic and well balance instruments coexistence. You want to achieve, what I will call "listener head shaking element" so they will groove with/enjoy your production, sorry if this doesn't make to much sense or sound too complicated but there is not really easy way of explaining this process in a standard way, which will include of variations of different styles or genres. We can talk more if you need it.

Cheers,

Darek

Sorry man, I wasn't really happy from my previous comment so I decided to play for you with some examples (if you don't mind lol, and no this is not self promotion lol) -> this is the best way to visually point you to right place where I'm dealing with this issue in this track:

Memories - DariusX (Best of two Worlds WIP preview, Trance and Chillout) by DariusX.

Please look at 4:15 part, you can definitely hear some nice and smooth/easy going rhythm but still without this driving effect yet and where you compere this to 5:18 part, you can definitely hear/feel the difference!!! ---> just small addition to snares and this filtered pad (which played this sweet and melodic chords) was good enough to add/inject this extra groove/energy/drive to this track, did that make any sense???

Cheers and sorry for using my track as a platform to explain you what worked for me lol, I hope you don't mind.

Darek

awesome track, and yeah I think I definitely get the gist of what you are talking about now, those subtle touches that have a massive effect on the track, might seem simple to you, but I guess for a person like me its just going to have to come with experience, but I can definitely feel the drive, and I am going to incorporate something like that!

I'll be honest, dont spend more time "perfecting" this.
Make a new song and incorperate the aspects you lacked in this song.
Everything is always better when your in the moment creatively. Sure you can go back replace a drum here add a few percs here and there, but what your lacking is that relationship between the drums, percussion and melody.

Don't worry man, I learn over the years that you have to be really patience with your work, don't force it, let if formed itself natural way over some period of time (whatever that is 1 day, 5 days, a week or even a month, if that's what will take). I got some times myself to the point of completely dropping some of my tracks whole idea and start all over with it, but if you let your brain cool a bit lol and let your track seat on the shelf for a while, you can almost always came up with some smart and sweet sounding ways to finish what you started.

I love to play with different sounds, pads or aprs, like go through your soundbanks library and surf through it to get some extra inspiration of how to finish particular track.

Hopefully this will help you a bit lol

Cheers,

Darek

Yeah, I don't disagree with what you are saying but my philosophy is a bit different --> music for me is a craft (beside passion lol) and perfecting it, going over and over the same part (like 10 sec )of your track just to get this perfect sounding and balance piece of your production is really important part of my development process and I couldn't imagine doing it a different way --> this is the way of learning what you do, how you doing it and how was suppose to be done and for me repetition is the only way of doing it the right way, almost to the point of obsession lol - but remember, this is only me and my way of doing it.

Cheers,

Darek
