I guess Darek's covert plan of identifying all the old farts on TA has worked to perfection so far, huh?

And get pay for what you deserve - this is how I see it.

I can see split between 2 (like 70/30 or 60/40 - producer is first number) but then, every time you introduce another parties then this split start to be, at least a bit to complicated or in many cases unfair. Now can you imagine add another one to share your success lol - I don't !!!!

Cheers,

Darek

The best part is there will be 80 percent of the thread readers thinking what 'jaded old farts' we are 'who gave on the dream..AND THAT WON'T BE ME MAN!!!! I'M GONNA BE RICH!!!"

When in reality I, and I' have no doubt you, hav led some pretty interesting and satisfying lives.

There's a lot to be said for the (for lack of a better descriptor) 'purist' approach of doing music (or anything else) for it's own sake. It frees you of all the drama of the chase to glory and the disappointments that naturally come with it.

I'm hoping TL gets this off the ground. I'd love to see what he has planned and participate if I ever do anything I think is 'professional' enough to release outside soundcloud or a you tube vid.

It is a lot of different variables which need to connected properly in this equation, in my opinion this logical set of X attribute need to be precisely and logically placed in right time and in right position in order to represent (or giving us) a positive value on the end that calculation.

Nobody said that this will be easy job to do but I know that there is a lot, I mean a lot of room for improvement which ultimately should only benefits artists/producers!

Cheers,

Darek

If they were carpenters they'd claim all the money was in transporting the timber or something. They're just trying to protect their jobs.

I want to be successful. When I do something in life I want to be the best at it and reap the rewards that come with being successful.

edit: meaning I choose the first option.

Eh. I'm 20, been at it since I was 15, and I've never had any sort of ambition. It's a hobby with a massive learning curve and I don't put the sort of time into it to get anything back.

That said I really, really take pride in my music. I've been doing this for a relatively short amount of time, spent over 3 years with so little technical experience that I had absolutely no clue how to use a simple compressor, and yet my music sounds pretty good to me. I'm actually happy with what I make and my overall style. How many people can say confidently say that about their own music?

As nice as it is that the end result of about 40-50 hours of work gets the attention of about 100 people at a time, and a couple of them even take the time to give me feedback.. I dunno. The feedback is almost always really positive and yet my music gets so little attention, I sometimes feel like more people could enjoy what I make if I had any way of getting noticed. I just don't have the time or energy to create a network of people who care about what I churn out, and because of that it's easy to feel like I'm not doing anything right, or even if I am it must not be anything worth paying attention to.

But I'm still new to this, and I legitimately enjoy the music I make and the process behind it, so whatever. It makes it worth putting up with the frustration of nobody else really giving a shit about the one thing I'm really passionate about. At least, that's the case most of the time..
