no one is forcing anyone to buy tickets. Just get on the dj's guestlist, or do bottle service. Kaskade at encore beach labor day 2010, guy tickets were $150 at the door. we spent less than that per person with bottle service/lilypad. had the girls buy the $50 tickets and the guys went in via bottle service

True! But that still doesn't highlight why clubs are allow too and get away with this type of stuff. Plain and simple, its gender discrimination. $50 isn't a lot of money per se, since thats what you typically pay to see top DJ's anyway, but its the fact that rates are subsidized for women that I find surprising.

If they are that particular about maintaining balance, make it couple entry only. That, along with the dress code, usually keeps out the shady guys (as is the case @ 'Slide' in San Francisco).

Yeah - if its $150 entrance then getting a table makes sense, but prices are usually never that high (I assume this was a long weekend). It also depends on how many people you are with.

I heard about a law suit against lady's night a few years ago in NYC. The guy want the same drink discount as females. But the guy lost.

But now, this different rate for different gender is getting outrageous. If I remember correctly, some courts heard similar cases, and ruled that it was illegal, since the club is selling alcohol and acts as a state agent. The party can't be classified as completely private.

I am surprised no one in Nevada has tried challenge this practice yet. Maybe most of the people who pay money like that are tourists; they wouldn't stay fight for shit like that.

It has less to do with genre and more to do with the artist I would say.

Its also because there aren't any "male rights" groups out there.

I remember seeing a gay nightclub in London that had a sign outside that stated "we prefer gay patrons". I wonder what the reaction would be if a club had a similar sign for straight people.
