Could always be the hope of a jail break + os replacement to make it work. Not likely, but could happen. iPads have been hacked to run linux - so I wouldn't put it completely out of the realm of possibility.
Just because Apple wouldn't support it, doesn't mean that it can't be done.

lol I've had a Windows 7 cd (student discount) for over a year now. I keep forgetting to load it up... It's the process of backing everything up that has postponed it and now Windows 8 coming out. Oh well I'll get around to it eventually lol

You have heard of a little thing called Visual Studio right? Kinect maybe?
I really like the direction they are taking with Windows8. UI's have gotten too complicated as have the programs themselves. The average user does not need the amount of config, and options that are provided by modern operating systems. That's why I am happy to use Android for a lot if my needs.
The stuff coming out MS's research lab is pretty damn cool.
I held a win8 slate a couple of months ago, the Samsung hardware was really, really nice. |
Not trying to say they're absolutely useless for innovation, they wouldn't be alive if that was the case. I'm just saying for a company their size they don't contribute to evolution nearly as much as competitors. They're much happier buying a company with an innovative breakthrough, copying a company's innovative product, or suing them and getting a chunk of $ through their insane list of patents. Just compare their product innovation in the last 10 years to that of Google or Apple...

PS- all you folk still on XP, make the jump to windows 7... the user experience is a million times better. |
I use XP at home and 7 at work and honestly prefer XP cause I find things a bit more simplistic in a good way. Like taking three clicks to get something done where in 7 it might take five. 7 is definitely more aesthetic and has a nice interface for everything but if it was a cost for me to upgrade from XP to 7 I wouldn't bother.
