SS seems to be decent for electronic music, but if you stray outside that you're not going to find much...due in large part to the fact that SS was initially intended to only be used for electronic music.
There's nothing to prevent people from sharing other stuff, but it becomes a cycle. Only people who're interested in elecronic stuff hear about, and then get SS, and thus that's all that gets shared; which is fine by me, since that's the main thing I'm into these days anyhoo

How is it for brand-new tracks? With AG I used to go listen to just-released tracks on record stores websites, find ones i liked and then i could almost always find them right away on AG. Are there a lot of brand-new releases on DC?

It's not bad for brand new stuff, but not *great* either. If you're really after brand new stuff the second that it's available the DC hub is probably a better bet.
That said, stuff does tend to distribute pretty quickly on SS, I got the 4 "Yet Another Day" mixes, the AvB Positron Mix, and the two mixes of Sunspot almost immediately after reading about their release here, so sometimes it's really good.
A lot of it depends on if you luck out and get songs queued up before the line gets 500 deep...that kind of depth wouldn't be too much of an issue if you're running on broadband but for people like myself on normal shite 56k modems it can be difficult to get songs from the more popular users.
Thankfully I'll be on broadband sometime in the next two weeks, more choones for me...heh
