if i were the OP i get teh Q701 over the K550 though, if his enviroment tolerates open back.
the difference between the Q701 and the K701/2, is that the Q701 is more friendly to producing music, whilst the K701/2 are more for critical listneing.
if you look at their headphone graphs u will see the Q701 is a little sweeter to listen to in the mids and highs, with slightly more bass as well. its the headphone that is between the K240 and K701/2.
K240 is great though, especially for dance music me thinks and i LOVE mine. the problem i see the K701/2 having for dance music is i hear its bass light so its harder to determine how things will sound on a subwoofer, but Soundprank uses them almost exclusively, so it's not impossible. i would assume the Q701 irons that out a bit
