went alright. nyc comedy circuit is a hussle man. just by talking to some of the comedians before/after the show about the shit they have to do to land gigs and stuff.

the audience was mostly touristy so they were nice in general. the guys told me some horror stories about new york local clubs and audience heckling people to bits.

It must seriously suck to try to break into the comedy game in any city. Comedians in general are mental yo-yo's. Dealing with them, plus all the hecklers and years of unpaid gigs must really be brutal. If you can have fun and make any money at all in smaller areas, consider yourself a winner I say.

hit and miss, really... i've figured out that some of my "personal" stuff will only work if my career takes off and people are actually interested in who i am, etc.

so those didn't go over well because people didn't give a shit. as an... "entry level" comic, generalized/relatable jokes are more the bread and butter. basically talk about dick and pussy for 15 mins and you're golden.
