Always. Extra virgin, usually from Spain.

A-ha, I knew it! You don't buy Portuguese, right? There had to be an explanation!

We get our Olive oil from Portugal. But for some reason, Portuguese olive oil brands are all named after birds. And, of course, this being part of the Sushipunk Complot means there's is a twist: The one we buy is called "Swallow". The rival brand is "Cock".

Very sneaky, Stu, very sneaky.

I've got a nice olive oil with pressed garlic in it, which is good for salad dressings and marinades. Fairly potent though.
Herbs, whatever is in season but I do have some perennials like mint, rosemary, chives, lemon grass and so forth that get thrown into meals fairly regularly. Fresh coriander and parsley time is the best though.
Spices, fond of using turmeric, paprika, cumin and tamarind.

I'm not even sure if Portuguese olive oil is available here.

Rest assured though, if I had the option to buy "swallow" and "cock" oil in the supermarket, I'd do it, even if I had to buy 2 bottles when we only needed one.

And I'd relish telling my fiance why, just for the lulz

Edit: She would probably immediately ask me which one I prefer :/

Pure MSG, also known as fish sauce. It's that special ingredient in your stew that you can never figure out.

Pesto sauce, you can make it yourself - Basil, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Pine nuts, Garlic and Olive oil.

Or Beurre Blanc (Butter sauce) - Saute some Shallots in white wine, add in lemon juice, cream and butter.. Make the sauce in the same pan you used for the chicken, it's more flavorful (and less dishes to do).

fun fact: cumin and oregano are anti bacterial. eat a lot of those and you will help digestion and get sick less.

some of the stuff in our cupboard/fridge

oregano
cumin
coriander
mustard seed
celery seed
tumeric
curry powder
mexican chili powder
iodized sea salt
tamari
teryaki sauce
grace jerk seasoning
thai curry paste
bragg soy seasoning

For oils, I fry primarily with sunflower and save the olive oil for pasta and salads. Ghee enters into the picture every once in a blue moon as well.

Same here.

I like my oregano, basil, and tarragon.

I make some pretty mean glazes for seafood though since that's all I really eat. You name a fish and I can make a glaze that compliments its taste easy.

Have you ever taken Oregano Oil? My friend dropped a tiny bit on the back of my tongue last week and it was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had involving putting something in my mouth.

Oil of Oregano is one of those reassuringly expensive and vile-tasting things that cure everything.
Or maybe your friend gave it to you because your breath smells like the fourth world. It's good for that, too.
