I really hope it wont be a trend, thats why I used the question mark.
Why do these folks book DJs who are well known for a certain sound and then kicking them off the decks, seems pretty ridiculous to me.

this

and also djs need a manager to make sure they are not booked somewhere that will get them booed off the stage. Vegas is not a cultural experience. You can't expect people that find a 4 minute pop ballad intellectually demanding to dance to music that doesn't have a hook, doesn't have lyrics and is longer than 4 minutes.

Now that you mention it, I remember that, too.

Still, at this point I think it's a little far-fetched to declare that the sky is falling over three publicized incidents occurring in locations that are essentially cultural wasteland.

Yeah.
This probably happens every now and then, but it has always been that way.

Most of the people mentioned in these incidents are by no means new jacks, why should it surprise anyone that this sort of stuff could happen because they got booked to play at any of those bottle service clubs?

The way I see it, the giveaway starts with their name... there's nothing in there about the music, it's clearly all about liquor sales.

Miami, Vegas..... most clubs in those places are run like a business (and only a business). That whole thing about PLUR and love for the music and the underground ethos certainly seldom if ever ever existed there, so why act surprised when the hammer comes down?

For those who care, there have been cases of similar things happening overseas, Theo Parrish famously got asked to stop his set short at Panorama Bar in Berlin, and just as well instances of this happening in Ibiza over the years.

So I wouldn't call this a new trend. Just a reaffirmation that to most people and businesses, DJs are not live acts; merely highly-paid interchangeable figureheads. Or can anyone quote instances of a band being cut off mid-set and replaced by someone else?

See, it would have been a whole different thing and probably very epic if someone was taken off the decks and their fans stormed the club in retribution; what fans in Vegas? LOL

Nothing to see... move along?

(Unsolicited advice to anyone getting booked over there: be prepared to be flexible, and don't forget to say thank you for the nice, easy $15K payday on your way out so they book you again...)

that is because miami and las vegas are fake cities. one built on coke the other on gambling, whores and a bunch of wops with a token black guy.

on the other hand pauly d could really revolutionize things there soon.

So Miami wasn't also built on coke you say? I would say Miami is quite successful with the EDM scene albeit quite on the commercial i would add.

I was talking about Miami numb nuts....and yeah WMC? Ultra and all of that other shit? Its just another side show. Too fake to make anything real. Disposable, recyclable, forgotten once you hit the airport.

The Coca-Cola Bottling Co. has built an empire on this very concept, so have McDonald's, KFC and countless others.

Music as a commodity... There should be an equivalent moniker to 'fast-food' for music!
