Tech house has been around since the 90's Woony so that's not true. And this is not widespread.

Jay Lumen would be a good example though of what you're talking about.

I think when you can sum a track in just 1 bar, there is something lacking.

If we were all judjed based off of our first impressions we would recount many of them, with that being said cant agree on your 1 bar comment, i mean this type ofdance music is all about forming a groove thru repetition...jus ask diddy

Altho guys likke soundstream and jay lumen do it better.

Comparing contemp tech house to the stuff from the 90's is like comparing Skrillex dubstep to Martyn or Burial dubstep.

More the "dark prog" movement. The twinkly, Holden-esque stuff was less of a precursor, although it did start to get quite glitchy and micro-house influenced, which in itself was the starting point for tech's angular, white-noise aesthetic.

I shouldn't have used him as a reference, because he is one of the better tech house producers out there. There are brilliant tech house tracks like (actually too easy, this track is a genre definer.):

(I love this record so much i forked out 160$ for it...will you lecture me on my material ways system j? I'm just a material girl in a material world after all.)

Baby Ford always hits the nail right on and has been doing so for a few decades now. The use of "modern tech house" as a moniker grinds my gears, because it is essentially a euphemism for it being utter shit (which happens to be more than not.).

Tech House is Tech House. There is probably not a sub genre this vague and loosely defined.

Unfortunately when a fad strikes and popularity further dilutes the producer pool, the genre becomes known for all of the disposable stuff from a beatport chart that everyone will forget about in 26 seconds.

The United Nations should really consider a ban and embargo of the Ableton Vengence pack.

Did you post that track elsewhere or something? I know I've heard it before. It's pretty great.

It's a bit notorious because of what people are selling it for. I may have posted it on facebook, as i try not to post music to undeserving trance crackers.

You generally can't go wrong with Melchoir or Ford (aka Soul Capsule)...even though some of their previous outputs on labels like Perlon sounded like they were taking the piss.

I don't know why I'm posting this track as it is barely relevant to this thread, but i just feel like strutting around like a whore with too much lipstick.

While I haven't found a Sound Stream record that I don't absolutely love...it probably is because he only has 5 releases. Not only are they not tech house, but he can hardly be considered prolific enough to have significant impact on the genre.

The Smith N Hack stuff happens to be tech house, but its pretty shitty and there are only 3 releases to my knowledge.
