Chicane - Three

Chicane - Windbreaks

Chicane & Vigri - Sólarupprás

I love them. A bit of his old and new influences!

Nice vocals, but his productions are so generic and his song writing is so bland apart from the melodies other people write.

Solar is ruined by that super crappy drop.

Does he really have to have that shitty pitch down effect everyone has copied now that Levels is famous?

Taking this for what it is, I think this is a good litle track.

Ever since his unreleases Easy To Assemble album it's been going downhill. The latest album I would not buy. And that's the first I will likely never own so I guess that pretty much sums it up. I bought every album up to Giants, went to a couple of concerts of him so I'd consider myself quite the fan.

Everything he does nowadays seems overproduced, technically sometimes even under par. It does not have anything to make sound organic/natural. To me, it doesn't sound like music that's produced with emotion. It sounds disillusioned, uninspired and feels like someone is milking the cow. That track with Ferry is horrible, you can clearly hear who did what and honestly, Ferry would have done a better job passing on this one if you ask me.

Same thing goes for the older tracks that have been reproduced, they all sound like the soul is sucked out of them.

In Nick's defence, the track Ocean Drive posted sounds quite remarkable though. Apart from the vocals. Ugh

File this under Adult Contemporary Easy Listening. Not even close to being out of place as back-ground music for a major grocery chain.

Fuck.

So true. Or some kind of cheesy video for a technology company pushing a new product line. Complete with sterile glassy surfaces, ample lighting, and smiling suited professionals of appropriately diverse races.

Geez.

It's on the order of Phil Collins.

How do you go from this:

to this:

This was a cheesy tune but it has a drive and edge to it that seems to be missing from the technically gifted collaboration with Chicane; who also seems to have forfeited his soul.

That tune sounds amazing in a club - the energy is just incredible.

totally agree. Been a fan ever since 97/8 and still listen to the first two albums frequently, but yah all the new stuff just sounds like trying to fit the music into the 'modern' pop polished box - same beat as everything, same melody-wise, sparkly but boring... and that collab with Ferry is just so bad that if someone told me 10 years ago that would be Nicks production I'd tell him to go to hell.

used to make great music with a unique feel though
