Approaching the end of this. Overall, quite good. I typically enjoy the rhythmic complexity and drive of your sets and this is no different. The mixing is excellent and its progression was smooth. I'd like to hear a set of yours which is more organized around melodic pieces. A few of the songs, particularly into the second half, seemed to lean in that direction and I'd love to be able to hear what you could put together (if you haven't already) with a slight but perceptible shift in overall focus from rhythm to melody, throughout a contiguous set. Regardless, thanks for putting up a one hour and twenty-eight minute diversion from more important tasks on a Friday evening.

Can't promise I'll love it - psybreaks is great dancefloor music but rarely tickles my ears at home. I'll go in with an open mind though, only know two of these tracks prior to pressing play.

Sorry its taken me quite so long to reply. I wanted to give it another listen start to finish before reviewing. Turns out finding an hour and a half to sit down and listen to music without any interruptions is not as easy as it used to be. I feel old and miss being a student. Anyway, i digress...

So this was as awesome as I expected it to be. I said to someone else on another thread in here that the problem I have with psy-breaks mixes is that the tracklists are always awfullfy familliar and whilst the tunes are top notch, theres nothing new. This was different.

Without wanting to sound like I'm giving it the charlie big potatoes, I own most of the tracks on here and know a few of them very well (I hammered energy vibration when it came out), but you put this together in such a way that I never felt like I was listening to a collection of tracks I know.

The mixing was very good. A little rough in places, seamless in otthers. There were a couple of sections were 3 or 4 tracks went passed and I couldnt tell you were the joins were (after a second listen I still cant lol). Track selection was excellent, apart from the last track, which I really didnt like. But then you never like my closers for breaks mixes so I guess were even

Excellent work sir, I shall rate this particular musical delight two thumbes fresh..

Thanks for listening, man. I know you heard Advanced Weaponry, I wonder what your thoughts were on the energy that this mix conveyed in comparison to this one. In my personal opinion, Advanced Weaponry was way more complex and blasting, but this one was funkier and only slightly less energy.

In response to your point on melodic pieces, I tried to do this a couple years ago with "Best of Yang", a mix of favorites from my Yang mixes in the Taijitu series. I'm not sure if that's what you mean exactly, but I find the combination of interesting rhythms, basslines, and melodies to be up your alley:

I don't blame you. I haven't had a lot of time for mixes. It seems a lot of times the DJ's on this forum are releasing sets that are a little too long for me to listen in one go. I don't always have 3 hours to sit around and listen to music like others. And I'm not even in school anymore!

Initially, as you and George Rimore are well aware of, I had my reservations about releasing this mix. Primarily because I figured that guys like you had already 1) heard and 2) played these tracks extensively. I had gone through all the breaks sets I found you posted on here, and I didn't play any tracks in the listed sets here (Breaks for Sally, Entropy, Arcadia, etc) as well as that Dr.Bumquist guy on psynews. I was certain you had heard or owned most of these before though.

But the point was not that I didn't want to play any repeat tracks, I wanted to play tracks that all fit the bill for a giant robot battle

Thanks for the comment on the mixing; I was a little shaky on two of the transitions that had beats that were causing the low frequencies to cancel, and when I played Pulse a little too loud. Also, as for the last track, it was hard to find a track that had "closer track" vibes as well as the heaviest bassline of all the tracks. I don't think the actual music in the last track sucks, only those ridiculous vocals about "being your angel". Snooze.

Anyways, thanks for all the listens! This mix is now my second most popular behind Heavy Gravity, with just over 300 listens. I'm probably skipping a mix for this October, and I'll be back in November with something a little easier on the ears.

sorry for the late reply, been busy busy !

14 minutes into it and im already doing the mobot around the haus. let the bodies hit the floor, i thought i was going to headbang but instead opted for mobots.

this is good so far, i thought i heard a dodgy transition but probably not. totally diggin it so far. i've never really heard of psybreaks but its a totally different take on the breaks genre, sort of techy/very mechanical/digital. i like it. BIG BEETS.

listening listening...

about halfway through now- had to turn it up a few decibels...i got my washing on and its spinning/whistling like a plumber on cocaine.

some heavy tunage 43min. epic synths. head is nodding/feet rockin.

techy digireedoos i wanna get my casio out and jam out.

67min...not bad. i like. a few mins have passed, i was talking to gf and she was hairdrying so that was a bit noisy, got distracted.

post the second half review later on...im drinking beer now and watching red dwarf lol (i've put mix on pauz)

I've been in the process of unpacking and cleaning in my new home so that gives me a lot of time to catch up on TA mixes that I can't get to from my work pc. So, this was one of them.. and Nick, I absolutely loved loved loved it!! I have no experience with psybreaks as a genre so this was an awesome introduction... at times hard-hitting, at other times melodic and almost vaguely reminiscent of progbreaks, with some flawless mixing.

Couldn't really pick out any specific tracks but that just means I need to go through it again.
