Ironically, that's exactly what drove my interest for music writing and production; I wanted to know how all those bleeps and bloops got made.

Another one is the crunchy distorted synth beep that hits on alternate snares in Sasha - "Baja." It really "makes" the percussion loop for me:

The sound is originally from Autechre - "Cipater": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHsaqUr_33Y

Yes I agree. You can hear that the bassline was done with old school gear. Also yea that laser sound is also followed by the other sound that is sort of an answer for the laser's call. Its all one sound like you said.

Yeah its give the track an identity and I find that little sample can separate the track in particular away from the other similar sounding track flying around at the time. It give you something to look forward to in the track too.

I always liked single metallic "pings" with a lot of reverb on them near the end of a bar. Hear it often used in dance friendly electronic sub genre's, mostly in tracks going for a dark vibe. I'm all about it.

New for me = new :P

That's also why if I were ever given the chance to play a 3 or 4 hour set for a proper well-engaged dancefloor I would completely murder it. My arsenal is deep and full of 5 star tracks.

And the entire concept of crate digging is born out of tracking down old tunes to use in new sets. The dj's that insist on playing all new tracks in their set usually sound pigeon holed and pretty much fucking boring. I'm perfectly okay with talking about music that is new for me because there's a good chance someone else out there also has not heard it.

Digweed adds a laser sound to Popnoname - On the Run in his Transitions CD release from 2006. It hits every 16 beats in the beginning of the track, which for me, really helps give the track more pace.

The trumpet sample that kicks in for a brief moment at around 0:53 in You by Andrew Bayer. Not sure what it is about it that works for me, it just does.
