If the requirement for pushing the promotional angle is to have five tracks, I think I've heard about 20 of your WIPs that you could bring to completion in a short amount of time. You could get so busy finishing tracks you might actually forget how to start them.

It was kinda my point of view, I have never posted my music on my public facebook for friends, neither do I have a artist facebook page. Without doing any promoting and letting the label do it i've been played by Dash Berlin, Shah and a few other.

I tried to stay clear of giving my opinion here, because I don't have expirience with being a marketable product either, but I think it's possible to get quite noticable by just making music.

I agree with all of you that you need a good set of tracks ready to be released.

What are the goals of the OP? He has to remember to be realistic. Unless hes pumping serious money to people, hes not going to get radio play. Who cares if DJ X and Y play your tracks, seriously you wont be so much better off after the ordeal(just some small thing to add to your bottom line) Shitty times to be a producer, so you gotta do it because you love it. I have some stories with some locals here, all I will say is "elite family dinner" lmfao. My 2 cents(all of my royalties combined).

i think the most important part of all of this before venturing further, is picking an alias you're going to be happy with to do this under for the rest of however long it will be. this makes branding infinitely easier. if you have a cool first/last name, i'd say stick with that as aliases can be pretty tough to come up with

some things to consider:

does it flow? (say spiral in groove out loud, i think spiral groove sounds way more smooth)

will it be easy to remember?

are you competing with other people/things for the alias? (doesn't have to be a musician, think companies and such. this can drastically effect google page rank and in turn make you harder to find for the people who like your music enough to search)

are you happy with it enough to continually release music under it?

are social networking channels available? (facebook, twitter, soundcloud, youtube urls).

this really does play into a lot for an artist. for example, https://twitter.com/spiralingroove is taken already. now when people google spiral in groove, his might come up before yours. and by that time, you've already possibly lost someones attention

I would pay a consultant a few hours on hoe marketing works now specifically how music and social media work . If you live in a big city, there are experts. Honestly, i mean it is so cheap to do it but it requires a rather intricate timing and more things than a normal person can keep track of. Reminds me of this WW2 strategy game i play called hearts of iron. I play 2 hours a week on sunday and i get thru maybe 1 day. You control every fucking aspect of the country. What to build , what to research, where to station your troops, supply lines. It is fucking nutty. I have a fucking project planner for this game.
