neither, i'm a clubber. hate the drug reference to Ravers and rave parties, and i don't see a DJ set as a party. i go clubbing solely because of the DJ, and a DJ set is a performance dammit! clubber sounds just right to me, 'cos i enjoy the music, and dance to it until i can't move

Okay, this reply is for E*Master or whatever your name is who seems to know it all cuz he's been there done that. I don't want to start an argument. Obviously our perceptions of "rave" are completely different. When I talk or think about "raves" or "ravers" I'm referring to the rave or what is better referred to as, the party scene --> i.e Destiny, Purple Heaven, Big Bud parties. Fortunately, these parties are becoming more mature (except Big Bud). The rave scene is dying because it's now more of a partier scene but the music isn't. Oh, and when you said that rave died with house music, I certainly don't hope that you meant that house music killed the rave scene cuz that shit music isn't even played at "non-Guvernment" type parties, unless you count booty house. Oh, one more thing, just curious E*Master, have you been to parties (non-club events) in T.O in the past few years???

Re: (Oh man here I go!) Kids, listen to me plz

E*Master, no offense but you're confusing the music style with the culture and events known as Raves. They are 2 completely separate things. Raves have been occuring in Toronto since the early 90's and while it's true that they maybe haven't had the cultural effects and implications in North America that they did in Europe, there is still a dedicated group of people who attend these events to hear music that you can't normally hear in clubs. I suggest you do some research about rave culture rather than just going by your own experiences before telling people they're flat out wrong. start here:

(And by the way, anything 2 Unlimited released after '92 was pretty much just commercial garbage.)

Emaster, if you were paying 60-340 a pill, then you were a fool. And it's not worth it to put cocaine in a pill, it's not very active orally. Your claim about what was in the pills is pure speculation (and utter BS.)

emaster ur living in the past man

yes raves are dead now

but are you telling me that EVERY single party in north america did not have the right to be called a rave just because of the stlye of music it played? if thats your case then the answer is simple, over the years the meaning has been twisted and now it has a new one which differs from yours

It's all about an underground tune, the one that noone but a handful of people understand, it's all about the lights and the energy produced on the dance floor,it's about truth, respect and understanding, it's about a natural high, that can be intensified with a pill, dancing, smiling, knowing what it is all about, releasing the crap we're made to believe or put up with on a daily basis, leaving this world that we call reality behind, elevating to a higher state of mind, to a higher being that sees all as equal, that sees all as my brothers and sisters.

partier, gino or raver, black or white, hippie or skinhead, they are the same in my eyes of this pointless repeating existance we call life.

ooook. . First of all how old are you? Rave culture? It was rave nation back then. Second. Why don't u share YOUR experience with "rave"? Third, Flec is right, the words did get twisted. BUT, I still disagree with the term "raver".

I want to know if u experienced Rave in Europe in 94-96. Other than that, just cause some websiote tell u what rave culture "was" or "is" does nto mean that is how it was. I am speaking from waht I saw and felt when I was there. Would u rather have some1 tell u who was there how it was or some book or website?
