I love the music that I play. If DJing started to bore me it'd probably be because I'm playing shitty/boring music. Good music stands on it's own and doesn't need any trickery to "enhance" it. Richie Hawtin plays some of the most boring and mundane music out there and that's why he needs all those bells and whistles.

buy Ableton
buy the latest loopmasters sample packs
buy one of the AKAI ableton controllers
put each sample under a PAD

and start making extremely boring "me too" loop engaged/loop not engaged livesets
People who do this are not innovative, it's just plain boring.
rather spend a whole season finding 5 obscure killer tracks, add them to your obscure track collection and drop a set where everyone leaves with "wow wtf was that" feeling.

PREFAB sucks, don't matter whether you use ableton or NI F1 and remixdecks

Already got a pair thanks. And I don't have a pair of 2000 nexus to throw away. Another one who doesn't read the question or even get close to answering what I was asking.

Anyways, you say you have a djm nexus, a laptop and a rmx1000. can't say I have any experience with the latter, but like yourself i loved the cdj-1000's. and i might be kidding myself, but i think my s2 has a platter feedback that is pretty close to how I would set the 1000's at clubs. So if you're just into adding platter control into the mix, a midi controller of the s2 variety, would be a great choice. and mapping a third deck, or fourth (but you'd might save that for input from ableton), to the controller is as easy as downloading a premade user one. especially since you're routing the audio through the nexus, in the sense that you'll have no pesky soft takeover issues running 4 decks on a 2 channel controller. basically it'd be like kontrol s4 with a breakout mixer section.

as i said, you could still run all the audio through the nexus afaik. plus you'd have added 'manoeuvrability' in your record collection through the dedicated section on the controller. then add, as suggested, a pad launcer for ableton. An akai might be overkill, i'm pretty happy with the feel of my Launchpad tbh, except it could optimally weigh a couple of pounds more, so it didn't get to move around lol.
Not much though. On that you could launch everything from loops, vocal shots or a capellas, sfx or even your own material if you're into that.

If you do go with an apc40 you get a few buttons and sliders for your ableton fx racks too, with the apc20 there's just one knob afaik, which makes it not worth it imo. Otherwise there are a few knobs&faders-only type controllers out there, if that's your thing, and the rmx1000 isn't enough of course. come to think of it, you could map the mixer section on the dj controller to fx in ableton, seeing as their pointless when you have an outboard mixer. so i've actually rendered this whole paragraph kinda moot.

And then you also have NI Maschine to consider, or the midifighter3d even, if fingerdrumming is your thing.

Granted your laptop being powerful enough, you could just route the audio from traktor into ableton, syncing wouldn't be a problem either as your computer sends out the midi clock to itself.

That would be a pretty powerful setup, that'd cost you far less than a couple of cdj's, and you could both do straight dj stuff, or a more creative controllerism type routine, or even perform your own material, all depending on your mood.

Coupled with a couple of stands it might look pretty cool too.

Evidently you do as you replied in the first place.

Why is it everyone in the booth seems to be on the blob at the moment? Could you all just relax and refrain from taking everything so personally..

Thanks
