I would contend that slut is, in usage, a term used by guys for women that will not sleep with them. Your definition encapsulates the suppositions and pathos the sort of contrite reality of a man scorned by his own self-doubt and insufficiencies will determine evident by most any rejection. In this light, it's rather a sad term that tries to label female sexuality as dangerously promiscuous by nature, but is in fact a projection in itself.
That's not to say there aren't genuine disorders that women suffer from, in seeking validation from as many sexual partners as will have them, which is generally quite a great deal given the nature of most people's genders. But that it's become a pejorative for something that is so wonderful is a shameful thing.
