Honestly they all do the same thing, atleast the rmx is made out of aluminum. The rmx2 has a 24bit interface with balanced output, if you can get anything else to match the specs of the interface just get it, or its not worth it. If it doesnt mention balanced anywhere, it isnt, if its 19bit, ur losing premiums here. A premium is not necessary but they're good to have, especially as you advance.

Tough question. I'd say it's about 80% hardware and 20% software. Without giving it too much thought.

If the RMX 2 can do everything the Kontrol S2 can do (which I honestly don't know if it can since I'm no expert) and lets just say I know a guy who knows a guy who can get me a full software version lol, would it be worth it to save the $$$ and go with the RMX2?

The two-deck/two-channel controllers all do pretty much the same things, some have a few finesses the others don't, and the buttons are on different places, but they basically do the same thing. The big difference being the audio interface, as MSZ mentioned. Many of the controllers just have low-grade parts in them, but NI says they put the same parts in their controllers as in their dj interfaces, and they're supposed to do the job well, so I guess that's a plus.
Having said that, some years ago I borrowed a cheap Behringer controller with built-in audio, and I had no hiccups whatsoever, and I was using it on a really old laptop. So who knows? I was using Traktor pro 1 though, so that mightve played a part.

Very nice looking. Here's a review for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=SSWRDR6K8xM#!

Update: DJed at a bar the other day (it was jukebox style still, but hey, I'm trying to get more into mixing) and I was approached by this guy who works for a national DJ business based near me (I tried getting in sometime this year but never got a reply). He told me to give their company a call and since he approached me I'm thinking I'm basically in! Pretty excited, this will be just what I need to take the next step and learn how to mix and all that. Also I've been working with my brother's girl DJ friend haha!

They probably want you to pay them to "teach" you to DJ no?

Kind of the reverse. It isn't a school. They have 15 DJs and they get you bookings. More like they pay me to learn.

100 bucks says there is a "administration fee".

it's like those people that prey on women's insecurities and hand them a card saying that they could be a model. 2000$ worth of portfolio pictures later, still no job.

i know a lot of working djs, not one has ever been paid to learn to mix in the 15+ years that i've been around. another case of wanting to be a superstar before knowing how to even mix.

op, i'm being nice here. do not play a gig out until you grasp the basics. one horrible showing can take years to fix, and your dreams of having a music video with dogs running around will be dashed.

hint

what is the name of the agency and show us the website.

i'm actually going to help you not get scammed, even though the devil in me kind of thinks it would be funny.

i don't really need the website or name either, because this scam has been on the rise the last 5 years with everyone wanting to be a dj all of a sudden. give them anyway.

a real booking agent never takes cash up front. he/she takes a percentage of your take home in return for their services. they do not waste time with people making 50$ and 5 drink tickets in a night that can't mix. they go after people making a few grand a gig. you won't be making this.

not knowing to mix, not having a single production or fanbase does not tip you off as to why an agent might be interested? good agents refuse to represent people who can't make them money, unless it is in up front fees for services that will never be rendered. you will call the place and they will say, oops no jobs this week, maybe next week.
