I reckon your actually much better off with a Vestax 275 and a Korg Kaoss pad Rather than a DJM500, Vestax mixers do seem to have a better sound quality than the Pioneers, they sound more Atmospheric or sommat! cant explain it!

But this would totally depend on how much channels u need, if 3 is enough for you then save your cash and get the 275 and mebbe a Kaoss pad, cos that way imo u have a much better set-up, the Kaoss pad will do much more than the inbulilt efx unit on the DJM500. If ur needeing more channels and a slightly more industrial mixer in terms of inputs of such things as Main Speakers control and monitor control etc then go with the DJM.

Conclusion tho...For home use....GO WITH THE VESTAX 275! Makes a lot mroe sense!

this is what i suggest.. i've used both mixers that you are thinking about.. to tell you the truth i'd rather go w/ the djm600 over the 500.. and the 500 over the vestax.. but you really need to go use both and pick the one that you would prefer. I like the pioneer because i've had extensive use of the djm600 because a guy in my crew has one and i think its the shit.. i was going to get the djm3000 because i was in search of a 19" mixer and i love the pioneers.. so if u do decide on the pioneer, might as well get the 600 because i think its better than the 500.. don't get me wrong, the 500 is a superb mixer, actually the only time i've used it was tonight at a club i spun at, and i didn't really get to play w/ the effects too much because i didn't want to mess w/ it live.. but i did notice that it didn't have a sampler and it was missing 2 effects, i can't remember the names but i remember there is way more options, plus i don't think i saw an effects volume control on the 500 that exists on the 600 but i may just not have been looking for it.. so back to my reasoning.. i used the vestax mixer at this guys house for about 3hrs and i've also used the vestax model that is just below the 275 and i just didn't like it that much. it seems really stiff (could be good construction but all the knobs and faders just seem like they need to have a little more grease or oil in them..too much resistance for my taste), and i encounter this on all vestaxes.. sound is good through the vestax so i don't think u will run into sound quality issues, but i am just used to the layout and feel of the pioneer and i think its better, bigger knobs and faders, i also believe that the EQ's do a better job of seperating the frequencies on the pioneer, for some reason i felt like the eq's are just not that accurate on the vestax but again thats personal opinion, and yes i did notice that on the 500 i used today, the eq's were not as clean as the 600 but i just attributed that to it being used as a club mixer so it must have taken extensive abuse, but now that we were shown that the 500 eq's are not as precise as the 600, this makes more sense. you might want to compare the stats on eq precision because personal opinion is personal, cold hard facts can be useful as proof because personal opinions are based on experience and you need to experience things for yourself. bottom line, u won't be dissappointed w/ either, im just biased to the pioneer because i'm so used to it and i don't really like the feel or control that I get w/ the vestax, however i know dj's that swear by vestax so i really suggest to go play w/ both.

Two days ago i bought a 600. This store was trying to charge me 1300 for it but i talked them down to $1050 flat (us) i'm glad to say it was well worth the investment. going from a numark to this is like another world. I have to agree that the 600 does a very nice job of filtering out certain frequiences with the eq. Well worth the money. But as people have been saying it comes down to personal taste and feel of ones mixer. Try em out and see waht you like.

Personally I don't like the pioneer djm series. Not saying that they are terrible mixers. I just like the quality of vestax mixer over them. I would go for a vestax.

Ok then, I have a question about the difference between the PCV 275 and the PMC-05 ProII. What are the main differences? Effects? Kills? And if I wanted to hook 2 tables and a cd mixer to it, could I? Any input is appreciated. Thanks- Greg
