For starters, you might be running everything on dirty power that creates the hum you're talking about. The more power you have drawn on a bad circuit, the more that hum becomes apparent. If you're running two sets of powered speakers and everything else (turntables, mixer, CDJ's, computer, sub et al) is on the same breaker, you're setting the conditions for the hum to occur. The ultimately cheap and easy fix is to purchase a ground-loop isolator (maybe two - they plug into RCA and are relatively easy to find at the local Radio Shack) that eliminates that 60Hz buzzing noise.

Secondly, you've all but collapsed your stereo image with the positioning of those speakers on the black shelf. I'm assuming the one on the wooden shelf is offset by another but it just looks unpleasant to have those two off to the side essentially providing reference in mono.

Thanks, yea I think the feedback is power related. The more items on the surge protector, the worse it gets. So I'm going to check out that ground loop isolator you mentioned here.

There arent speakers on the other side of the room to match the 2 8's. The room is asymmetrical and my computer + computer chair occupies the space where another speaker + shelf would logically go. The rockit 5 on top of the brown shelf aims right at my computer chair sitting position, but yea my setup has room for improvement.

Even if I could create sound symmetry in the room, my computer will never be at the center of the setup. My computer chair is where I do 90% of my listening. The other 10% is standing in the dj position. So I'm inclined to leave it alone but I'm going to take your advice because that feedback hum has been bothering me for a couple of years now. I just learned to live with it. It doesnt always hum. Somedays its worse than others. I think static electricity and humidity level also contributes since my wires lay on carpet. Any kind of perturbance to the cables or the connectors usually gets the hum started and then I dont feel like unplugging/replugging everything to fix it so I just keep playing.

lacksesepsotygh, do you make any money DJing? Or did you spend ~100.000 SEK on CDJs as a hobby?
