i recently started a record label with a friend of mine...i do the electronic dance side, he does the rock side...we got the label registered locally in the county through the county clerks office...its a general partnership "doing business as.."...it wasnt expensive @ all to get the business started...$13 to register the label, then another $5 to get the "d.b.a..." notarized...once that step is done, then if you plan on hiring people or selling items (records, equipment, services..) then you need to get a tax id or EIN...you can find this on irs.gov ... go to the tax forms search field & type in form SS-4. thats the next key...after that, your budget & talent is the deciding factor in your success

my label is extremly new, as im still trying to finish building my studio...

cheers m8

hey lexicon,

thats really great that you were able to do that. i really didn't expect it to be that hard to set, but like yourself i'm still in the process of building a studio that can handle such a task hehe. i really would prefer to keep it only to my own productions and maybe a few others if they were some TOP acts hehe, but i'm sure that i'll talk to you more on the topic soon.

thanks again
