the NL is obsolete. Especially with all those cheap analog synths in the last few years that just blow it out of the water.

Software is also as good or better. The only synths that sell are ones that are either analog and understood to be raw or preset machines with lots of effects like the virus. The NL is neither. And the preset machine cutoff is rather low in terms of how much you can sell it for.

And i doubt they will have a virus like integration and as always , they are not a company that tends to have presets that would inspire the new producer to buy it.

Thank god jesus and old rockers in cover bands still exist. That is were they make their money.

I think you're missing the point.

If you're looking for a capable, inexpensive, nice sounding VA hardware synth the the Lead/Rack is still very relevant. Not everybody wants a billion routing options that require a mouse and a hunchback stare at a monitor screen.

Plugins get on my tits tbh, just such a chore to program.

Looney4Clooney,

I agree, Clavia is for pop rock bands!! yeah!! LOL
And everything started with Alanis Morissete.

Hardware synths are still used live anyaway and have their value, for example, FOR FUN!!!

But man, software synthesizers are damn good these days!!! Want a proof??? Compare the sound of old synths i.e V-station, Disco DSP Discovery, to the new ones, it's incredible how the older v-synths sounded so digital.

Newer synth can sound as good as hardware synths, nothing that an exciter or a saturator or any other kind of phatenner on the chain doesn't help!!!

-> Open your Sylenth1 and put and BBE Sonic maximizer in the chain! Compare with your hardware synth now. But compare with your A/D converter ON!!! The two sounds must output from the same source!!!

I can drive faster in Forza than I can in real life. So it's better.

Well, Skrillex and other kids rock the world with their laptops! And they earn REAL money!

To be a winner with hardware synths you must spend much more money than the synth itself!

You need a F*CKING good A/D converter!

That's the point!

it isn't really that affordable especially when no store carries the rack when compared to what is out there. It sells but not that well. The synth will never sell to the new breed of producers because of its dry signal path. Those that understand and appreciate why you might want that will opt for one of the newer analog synths.

I think it has been placed in a weird category. IT won't appeal to new producers. And old producers already have one or go the analog route.

And the nord modular doesn't require a computer once you've maded your patch, More buttons as well. I can do everything a NL2 can do. I mean it uses the same engine except on steroids.

I see it as the first 'proper' affordable synth. It's a step up from the likes of the Blofeld (perhaps not in terms of sonic ability, but the UI), Gaia, Novation Nova's etc etc, but at least half the price of stuff like the Virus, V-synths and all the shitty workstations that the Japs spew out. I also like the fact that it's dry as it allows you to focus on programming, not polishing.

You can still get the rack here too, it's only about $750.

It'd be good to see some kind of DAW integration though. It's not like they don't have a history of hardware/software hybrids.
