If you're into hiking, the Laugavegur trek in Landamannalaugar is reason enough to come to Iceland imo.


There are ofc other amazing things to see in our varied landscape. Just within the radius of the capital you can visit Geysir (the most famous one), Gullfoss (a beautiful waterfall), Þingvellir (a national park where our parliament was established in 930) and more.

July/August is the best time to visit. By then most of the snow on the mountains has melted and the weather is as good as can be.

ps. I don't understand other Scandinavian languages when spoken, but can usually get the gist of things when written. Faroese to me is like a blend of 50% danish and 50% icelandic.

All the Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden and Norway) understand each other. However, non of them understand Icelandic and Faroese.

Icelandic people don't understand Scandinavian, but they do understand Faroese.

Faroese people understand Scandinavian because we are taught Danish in school from childhood.

It may seem like that to you, but the Faroese language is as different from Danish as Icelandic is
