i always said electronic and/or actually labelled the genres. same guys i knew that hated on me for listening to techno garbage now listening to 'edm' or even worse 'progressive house' - lol. that always grinds my gears even worse

i like it. because to me it tell me right away that this person likes: trause , armada trance , or skrillex dubstep kinds.
its a new term and it is associated with those "new" styles. i am not offended or irritated when someone mentions this. it is not their fault. They are fresh to this and clearly not informed nor educated enough to know that this is a very wide generalization of the term electronic dance music.
i mean it is a way better generalization then techno. EDM does actually include all sounds.

I usually say Electronic Music or Dance Music..if not the exact genre, Techno, Tech-House, Deep whatever
and to the people that call everything with a 4 on the floor beat "techno"..ahhh
