Your post was dang annoying to read. Please use complete sentences, periods, and paragraphs.

I'm glad to hear that you made it through the night. I was spinning at my frat lastnight and I had a bad experience.

I was "mixing" hiphop to the best of my abilities and I had like 50 people in the basment grooving out. At midnight (when most people are buzzing) I played (just to name a few):

Ferry Corsten - Punk
The Bass Tarts - Summer In Space
Ascension - Someone (Binary Finary Remix)
Catch - Walk On Water (A&B Mix)
G&M Project - Feeling The Sunrise (Up Mix)
Klea - Tic Toc (Magik Muzik Mix)

Once I started only about 5 people were in the basement after 10 minutes. I really didn't care and I played my set (1 hour) and then said fuck it, and got really drunk.

I hate Iowa for it's dance culture. I need to get a job at a bar or club around here. Some dumb bitch asked, "Do you have any Justin Timberlake?" Was she listning to ANYTHING that I played?

I think everyone was scared of the music. I don't think they have ever been to a club in their lives. The people that were dancing to it loved it; it's just that the majority of the people are closeminded and wanted me to spin Eminem.

I think you made the mistake of playing the wrong music to the wrong crowd. And just because a girl listens to something that you dont spin, it doesnt mean shes a dumb bitch either. As a dj, i think its vital that you respect people's taste in music because youre playing for them. . . . .unless theyre PAYING to see YOU.

my advice, dont pull a me and get absolutely trashed before your set. did this at my first party, couldnt read the records and could barely stand.. ended up giving the headphones to my girlfriend and let her fuck about on the decks... i think she managed to mix better than i did..

That's what made me mad.

I would have just laughed at her face. I really want to spin at a frat at my school. But after realizing that everyone would just ask to play hip hop every 2 seconds, I dont think i want to play for these dumb closeminded ******s that go to frat parties. The sad thing is, even the clubs around here only have hip hop parties.

yo i hate that girl! i've had that same exact experience, well actually the girl asked for nsync! thats Y i hate doing college parties, actually i don't like doing any house parties because idiots keep coming up making requests. we always just tell them that we are there to perform, we are not jukeboxes.. a couple times we just packed up our gear and left becuase we got in arguments w/ the people throwing the party. this one time at a local bar/cafe we were hired by a club at school to do one of their parties.. well these dumbasses kept asking us to play different pop shit and we told them to fuckoff or we're pulling the plug, and sure enough some stupid ass had to come ask us to throw on some hiphop (don't get me wrong, im down w/ hiphop, just not down w/ ppl asking me to play it when im busy mixing) and so we told them that if they want to take requests, get a fucking CD player and that was that.. chances of someone saying "better than your techno crap" at a club will probably be slim to none.

IM trying to work with a few frats in talking them into holding a "rave/club" night party once a month. The party will be avertised as club night, so hopefully if I play at one of those gigs, I wont have too much trouble with people asking me to play hiphop. If people request shit, I would just say..sorry, its a rave party, get out if u don't like the music. Some frats where a few of the members like electronic music are actually considering holding these types of parties.

Hello! people suck...

I spun at a college ski trip in Colorado last year.. (the night was electronic dreams or some bs..) So any normal person would expect to hear electronic music...

About 30 minutes into my 5 hours of spinning, I was asked to play something with a few more lyrics. I played all my fruity house songs, and got the typical.. "Do you have hip-hop? NSync? and the real kicker... "why can't you play any Pink Floyd?"

Lo and behold, I spun into the dark side of the moon, and let the album play out. I then grabbed a bottle, and a waitress, and drank into oblivion. The best part was the last hour, when I was beligerant, and mixin my little tail off. No Requests was about the only coherent yelp comin' out of my mouth.
