I think it is better than ever in central Florida. Ferry, Markus, Shogun, Ashley Wallbridge, Armin van Buuren, Antillas, Gareth Emery and Tritonal all in 1 month in Tampa.
More than 50% of those guys don't play Trance. Ferry, Shogun, Tritonal, and Gareth (especially this twat) don't play Trance. Armin is sort of on that list too, he's just smart and realizing that the true Trance is making a come back so he's starting to transition back.
The term Trouse comes to mind, some bastardized electro house trance crap that makes me puke and diarrhea at the same time.

I guess if those sorts of names are what get you excited, then sure. Go to the NYC board and look at the trance names they get. Night and day...
I don't recall saying any of those names get me excited. The topic of this thread is where is the trance. I've been clubbing around central Florida since 1994 and I don't recall ever seeing that many DJ's that play something even close to trance in 1 month. Regardless if some of the Djs who i mentioned changed their style recently, they are all still known for trance. I'm not going to lie, I'm jealous too of the trance acts being booked in NYC.

I'm just glad Ferry Tayle will be in Miami for July.. Its worth to make a 3 hour drive for that!! That Sunset lineup imo wasn't great except for Wallbridge. HTG promoters here in Orlando book all shit electro poppy garbage. Wish they would change up their tune and get some high bpm guys like Kearney,Askew,Indecent Noise,Aly & Fila, etc..

In my personal opinion I don't think there really is any demand left for Trance since it has gone the way of fluffy pop music with big snyths
Not all trance has gone pop and fluffy. Lots of it is dark and techy with psy influences. I know its not your thing but skip through this weeks radio show by Suzy Solar with guest mix by Chris Porter to get an idea of what the non commercial trance that is currently being released sounds like:

Obviously not all of it has gone that way but for the majority of it, it has. I will listen next week sometime, can't have my head getting filled with different sounds the day before my Terrace debut

I can get away with some progressive trance at this bar I DJ at in St.Pete :-p
But I've been pretty disconnected with the EDM community these last few years so I'm not sure who's playing what but some of this electro trance has to go.
Psy influenced trance is something I always enjoy, we need more people to spin that.

Yes we need more of that instead of the electro influenced trouse we get nowadays. The trance scene in all of florida is a hoax. Not enough of real talent coming in and showing how its really done. LiL B your in wrong decade

Donnie, good luck and major congrats on your Terrace debut! It's interesting to hear your point of view, being that you are from the techno and house scene and work in the industry. Save the Suzy mix for the right time and place or pass it on to someone who will appreciate a non commercial trance mix.
I think the reason the bar sales are lower at trance shows is because the ticket prices have steadily increased over the years. Normal people only have so much disposable income every month. People will pay the high price to get into a club, but then they can't spend as much at the bar. The clubs also usually have the drink prices set to high.

Juan,
You've clearly missed the point. I never said the trance scene was anything but better than it has been here in central Florida and actually north Florida too, who just had Markus and Luccho last night. Meaning, there are more trance artists coming through this region then in previous years. The shows are also way more crowded. Are the guys coming through my favorite artists, no. How am I in the wrong decade? What are you talking about?

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers but I honestly believe that the average trance fan whom goes out to shows at clubs are not necessarily the same as the average house/techno fan that goes out to shows at clubs. At techier events, I see much more people hanging out at the bar, ordering up rounds of shots, consuming mixed drinks, etc. As a long-time bartender, I tend to notice how the bar is running no matter where I'm at. And at trance events, the bar is ALWAYS dead. It's as if people are really only there for the trance music and nothing else, whereas a lot of people at techno/house shows seem to enjoy the ambiance and atmosphere of the club itself (which lends to more drinking). And frankly, tickets for non-trance events aren't any cheaper than the trance tickets.
But yeah, Suzy Solar is bad-ass. How the fuck do shitball DJs like Tritonal get big but Suzy Solar is still basically just an opener for electro garbage "trance" DJs?? She always outperforms the headliner, lol. She was even better than Andy Moor in Tampa in 2011 (though he was good too).
