kinda feel for the late adopters through mac app store, sure, but honestly, 200$ was the price of logic express 9, and is less than the upgrade path from ableton live 8 suite to 9 suite, which was for me a complete joke. I can see those berliners already pushing with live X for an adobe CC-like price policy. At least with logic, things are very clear and the same for everyone, you pay, you download, you start using what you're paying for. No upgrade paths, no silly policies, no games. Just music.
I think I'll do the jump very soon.
I used to pay 1000$ for my logic pro pack so at 200 bucks, I think there's lots of great stuff in there. Steinberg demands 700 for a version of Cubase with the same features, if not less.
Now the suspense goes round mainstage 3... will its playback plug feature real-time stretching? might do! If so then... goodbye ableton live for me and forever.

I'm guessing that Logic X will cause all the Mac users to storm the Lennard castle and you'll see 64-bit in no time. As for being "pretty lame", you should direct that comment toward these lazy developers who refuse to keep up with technology (i.e., see L4C's comment above). |
i agree, Lennard should get his shit together or drop the product, especially since he's in essence charging over $200 for legacy software

MacProVideo already has a video series showing off the new features in Logic X. Gotta say, I'm loving the new features. Track stacks are pretty cool. Moving tracks around now works the way you'd expect, including moving non-contiguous tracks around. The MIDI effects seem very cool, especially the arp, modulator, and randomizer.

edit: damn, the new Retro synth looks very cool, too. It's actually four different synths in one (analog, sync, wavetable, & FM). The new electric piano also seems nice.

maschine? Nomad factory magma hosts vsts inside logic too. That should solve the issue... partially. Now on a single core that's going to be very hard for some with an older mac. Glad I got myself a quad even though the logic board needs a replacement. |
i see everyone talking about jBridgeM w maschine.. what do you need a maschine for? isn't that what jBridge is for?
