That statement covers the majority of regular learning experiences through life, assuming its followed.
However, there are some truly appalling decisions in the immediate area around your personal centre of the universe that inflict massive amounts of physical and/or emotional suffering on others, that is both unrecoverable and unforgivable. Then you get to know what the lowest and most dire levels of regret feels like, or the emotional parts of your personality that gives a damn, dies as well.
