every genre at least what is new is usually just taking things from different genres and putting them together. Trance arguably died when they stopped making triple stacked mercedes Es.

You would think that, but consider some of the options:

1. Discogs - quite dead, unless you're looking to show off your massive vinyl collection or talk about the latest obscure dub techno white label.

2. Resident Advisor - Almost only relegated to promotions hype, scene gossip, and bitching about the latest review-rating 'controversy'.

3. DI.Fm - Really dead, unless you're one of those twats that comments 'MASSIVE TUNE!' to every single track that plays on a station.

4. InTheMix - Like RA, but dumber.

Meanwhile, other forums dedicated specifically to trance are just as barren, possibly the only one that has any interesting activity being the Anjunabeats Forum (yeah, I lurk there on occasion...). Yeah, I'll take what TA offers, thank you very much.

...because this sub-forum has *always* been open to discussion about EDM other than Trance

Hi sykonee. I do find Discogs very useful. It is still a vibrant marketplace, and a place I use to purchase primarily CD Singles not found on Beatport.

other types of EDM have a lot of the same qualities and elements that made you love trance. it's natural, especially now that trance has effectively died.

almost everyone fairly well aquainted with trance was aware - and dabbled in other types of EDM.

i mean, back in the day, even ferry corsten used to drop bombs like killahurtz - west on 27th!

if it was natural to build a set using different types of trance, then it is also natural to branch out into other types of EDM... many of your favourite (so called) trance artists probably lead you there in one way or another.

Hi rubez.

Yes, EDM is a broad category - and Trance that falls under EDM does have the electronic & danceable qualities (the most obvious ones).

But some Trance is EDM, and some is not. Some might propose that Trance is even broader than EDM, or at least that it has the potential to be.

On a side note, nothing ever made me LOVE Trance. But it can be a pretty interesting hobby.

Lord Discogs is awesome for finding music, of that there's little doubt. We're talking about forum communities though, where ample, healthy discussion about various topics often takes place, and unless Frankie Bones is going off on another rants, the Discogs Forums has long been a very barren place.
