After spending a fuckload on decks, why bother? Go get some vinyls and practice more urself. And BTW, there's different courses for different styles ie: beatmatching+chord matching (some bullcrap like that.. heheh) or you can do scratching.

theres a great site called http://www.recess.co.uk that gives you a basic rundown on what its all about (beatmatching, phasing etc)

I taught myself before learning of recess. That site is quite good, but to me, it just made sense to beatmatch that way and to phrase match - I mean it's a melody, of course you've got to match the phrases. Maybe that's just cause I play piano. Was phrasing not self-evident to the people who haven't done music before? Anyway, the more advanced techniques on recess are an interesting read.

$300+ doesn't sound right 2 me. If it were indeed that much I wouldn't be stoopid enough to ask the question in the first place LOL

My brother did the DMC course, i'm not sure what they taught him but if you only have a cheap pair of decks, or none at all maybe it would be useful.

haha, i dont think many people would know wat ur talkn bout when u say A mus... but isn't there an X mus?? i think that'z the most holy of holy 'Mus' things u can get. not sure

im proud to say, i went up to A.mus as well for violin, but i didnt do the exam coz i decided to quit 3 months before i was gonna do the test... great timing huh?

edit: there's a pioneer pro dj teaching thing... im not sure how much it costs though

A.T.Mus.A.
L.T.Mus.A.
F.Mus.A.
(and C.Mus.A. but that's piano for leisure)

LOL, it's gonna take me many years to get all of them. Scary thing is if I do do it I'll have 27 letters for music and only 4 for med.

lol holy crap, thatz freaky... the pieces u play in F mus would prob need both hands and both feet pounding on the keys, whilst somehow managing to use the pedals lol... i wonder how long the pages would be as well and u have to memorise them

Nah, they probably give you really easy pieces with F.Mus - but you'll have to play every note with exactly the right finger weight, recoil - now that 100x harder than playing fast.

Trust me, I did the Moonlight Sonata for A.Mus (1,2,3rd movements) and the 1st movement (60bpm) was more difficult to perfect than the 3rd (190bpm).

Actually, maybe they'll just give you a piece like another one I did for A.Mus - Chopin's "Aeolian Harp" Etude Op.25 No.1 - bloody fast and full of difficult finger weighting.

Do you think if I start humming and singing like David Helfgott they'll pass me on sympathy?

i don't play any musical instruments, though i used to play cornet (small trumpet) for about 5-6 years...

my uncle used to play piano for the SSO though
