lottery = tax on the stupid.

Have said that, I know someone who won it. TWICE. (I'm not actually joking - first time they got the second highest prize (high 5 figures) and then second time, two years later hit the jackpot and got low seven figures).

As a firm believer in logic, no.

I do believe in the last two years, however, there was a pot so large that the math actually worked out that it was worth buying a ticket, as the average expected win was slightly over the dollar cost. I still didn't buy one, though, lol.

Like aliens, winning lottery tickets seem only attracted to rednecks.

I sometimes bet on football lottery (guessing 16 matches or 7 draws out of 32 games).

As i see it i'm not spending the dollar on the chance to win, i'm spending the dollar on the feeling that something good might happen.

And after a day i feel like a retard

"Tax on the poor" is more pointed, if you ask me.

Because betting on football matches is illegal in the US, I have to settle for lottery every now and then.

The odds of course are unreal for something like the PowerBall or the Mega. Here in California you also have Fantasy 5, Daily 4 and Daily 3, which have smaller prizes but better odds.

My philosophy is the same as for Casinos: Dedicate a reasonable amount to spend. If you are spending more than what you're winning, don't play anymore. If you are winning more, take a portion of the winnings to save and keep playing with the rest.

Also, in California, a significant percentage of the lottery goes to education. That's gotta be a good point.
