They can only reach a certain level before the sound starts devolving into the sillier tear-out region and the mood is killed completely. Perhaps those tracks do exist, and I just didn't dig deep enough, but that is my viewpoint. Maybe Dave can shed some light on this issue.

Yeah thats pretty accurate. There definately a string of producers making the more energitic side of psy-breaks that is less silly (Acidova is one that springs to mind, Chris Voro too and obviously Blazer) but the energy comes at the expense of the funk

Not everything they've put out would fit into this category, but wouldn't you say Broken Eye have some tracks that fit the bill? Stuff like this:

> Live @ Dance:Love:Hub London, 11.10.2025

Like these sets? Come see me play live at Kibosh in Manchester: https://www.instagram.com/kibosh.mcr/

Gah, I really should have checked out more Broken Eye stuff. I think one of my problems was that I pigeonholed my search into tracks less than 130 BPM, so I was hoping for more natural "progressive" psybreaks. I'm sure I could have slowed some of those down effectively. Did you say you went to one of Broken Eye's shows? I bet that was boss.

Anyway, bumping this for now. Nothing in the mix queue for a little while.

They were playing in the breaks room the first time Illuminaughty had a breaks room, and that night single-handedly converted me to a psy-breaks lover. And now they're playing at the next one in November, hopefully alongside the mighty Dave King himself.

I've done some more housey prog-psy in the past. No diva vocals or black dudes chanting about how deep the bass is, but this might do it for you:

Artificial Nature

Also don't forget I did a similar style for MSZ's radio show:

Transients 007

I was going to bump this thread the other to save you the bother

Really sweet mix, I'd listened to some of your previous mixes (the first 30mins or so of Magic Treasure is amongst my favourite 30mins of music I've heard on the DJ Promotion site) and really enjoyed those. This stood up really well too, I'd let the others discuss the technical aspects since that's not my forte but just really enjoyed it...and little back story of the mech assassin too.

Hey thanks for the praise! Magic Treasure is probably my favorite mix I've ever done. It's a shame that I seem to be really good at the first half of mixes but I'm not so good at finishing them. I'll keep working on that
