Yeah, a miscellaneous review thread would be a good idea.

As someone who used to write reviews often, I only write reviews when I'm inspired to do so. That only really happens a couple of times per year these days. The last time I wrote a review was for Four Tet @ Foundry back in March.

As for the new generation, I think the shorter form of communication which is prevalent in Facebook and Twitter has resulted in much shorter reviews. I don't really think it has to do with how commonplace parties are. It has more to do with the form and style of communication of the younger generation.

FB also outed a lot of ppl so the anonymity of ta is gone, somewhat. That was part of the fun on here

Also, writing a review knowing that only a handful will read it... now I just write it in here like a diary or log of some sort so I can go back in time and read it months later.

Also with soundcloud, youtube, be at tv, predictable or safe cheesy bookings and so on, lots of these acts don't seem so fresh and unique anymore. However, once a while you get that one event that brings people back, sort of like when Digweed destroyed Stereo last year and many went on ta to post about it. That used to happen almost monthly on ta, now you'd be happy to see that once or twice a year.

Sadly, I've only written a few reviews on here. I would like to write more, but I don't go out nearly as much as I used to. I would love to see more reviews though, to see what I've missed out on haha

I wish I could say because of Facebook's popularity that all the reviews are being posted there now, but sadly that's not even happening either.

The only thing I can think of is that a lot of the mysticism around DJ'ing is gone now with stuff like Traktor and other programs making it easier and track IDs are easier to figure out now because of the internet, with sites like Beatport and Facebook making it easier to figure out.

Speaking of, there have been some pretty cool events booked this summer and there look to be a few more before the end of the summer.

Dirtybird BBQ, that Corona Sunset party and it looks like something at Fort York on Labour Day weekend as well.

FB and twitter ruined it. Prime example of how "social" media sucks

I miss the huge DJs and events that were hosted in t.dot years ago. Speaking for myself...I travel outside of canada now for my events so writing a review of that here would be pointless. I think the real reason why the thought out reviews are MIA is because most of us who would write propa reviews have moved out of the city. The Toronto scene changed so much that writing up a review is just not as interesting anymore. I remember when our roll calls were like 180+ ...yup, good times

But oh how I do miss chuckling as I'd read a messed up hieroglyphic review from someone so plastered out of their mind lol...and the ppl that knew their music or the experienced promoters that actually gave a cr*p about revealing a Dj lineup with set times. Yup, though corny--it really is all gone Pete Tong :P

The optimist in me still comes to t.dot hoping to recap a hint of how good it all once was. Perhaps we just have to wait for the next wave of enthusiastic partae ppl that will discover how mind bendingly good the underground scene can be.

Happy Hullabaloo!!!! There's a number of people still around that listened to hhc back then. Even back then a lot of people were only in it because raves were cool.

Social media killed the reviews but events now are more like concerts. I can go out and have as much fun as I did 15 years ago but rarely get that old day of jitters and excitement which I guess is the plateau mentioned. Someone else had a good point that the mystery is gone as well.
