The old electribes were synth and sampler versions as well.

I'm hoping you can load samples via USB though, and that the SD card is just for using them live with no computer.

Yeah, the old tribes were Synth, Sampler and Rompler(drum-ish).

It'll be interesting to see how the new ones play out *praying for USB loading*

Is that you Palm? Must be.

True though - I think the goal is to turn that fun in to something productive, not just noodle with it for hours on end.

So an update:

It seems a few people got their hands on early ones to demo with and the comments are mixed.

The good is things like polyphony, voices, ease of programming and FX, but the bad are incredibly 90's base sounds (not a problem for the sampler version hopefully), Korg in their infinite wisdom seem to have limited it to 4 bar patters ( ) and there's no song mode.

I don't care too much about song mode as it's nigh on impossible to make (a non-detroit minimal techno) track from start to finish in a tribe but the 4 bar thing (if true is really quite dumb as it's nice to have 8 bars for teh shranz perc.

Have yet to see a demo that is worth the disk space though

i am getting rid of my maschine, and looking for something to replace it. hardware-only based. i liked the sound of the TR8, but the no bass or synth part put me off - i'd need something to supplement it, i'd like an all in one thing.

that led me to this. are you able to get 808, 909 samples on this? i'm guessing not (though maschine has them) what are korgs answer to these samples like? the hats, cowbell etc.

anyone have any more info on the new electribe? it looks really cheap compared to the old one (though it is metal, not plastic!)

i am very impressed by the sound quality in this clip, check it out:

Im not very impressed with that video, that synth engine sounds like a cheap softsynth. If I had the money I would invest into the elektron money pit.

Why not a keyboard workstation if you want an all-in-one?

don't like keyboards.

just want a hardware drum machine/synth/sequencer that wont break the bank. very few options.

the old electribe looks easier for programming, but they are like 10 years old now, and they have known issues. not to mention they are going for the same price now as when they were new (used!) like they are some sought after classic or something.

shame this looks so cheap, and there is an issue with a gap going pattern to pattern supposedly. and the lack of buttons (compared to the old one) looks like there is more menu diving

it uses the king korg engine though, curious to why it sounds cheap. other don't seem to think so. i have heard some of mistabishi's productions using electribes, and they sound great.

was even thinking of a korg volca beats & bass/keys combo. but they look like they would be a nightmare to program. i wish they had did a bigger box with the functionality all three of them whilst not being as compromising.
