first, LOVED the first half of the set. really enjoyed that.

You did start to lose me in the middle when you were really banging it out. I think it was really just a little more than i wanted to listen to at home. i can just picture this set going off in a dark basement club at DEMF.

other than that i really enjoyed it all around.

Thanks man. "Would go off at DEMF" is a pretty good compliment in itself. I wanted to show the different sides of the genre in this mix, which includes the thunderous bangers as well as the smooth futuristic stuff.

So then, Detroit techno: the most painfully serious, purist, respected and credible genre of dance music out there. And yet I can still make it sound exactly like progressive trance.

On a quick note, just by looking at the tracklist I think it's interesting how different this mix will sound from someone making a detroit techno mix using vinyl. A lot of the tracks in this mix feature more glossy, digital production and are only released digitally, where as a lot of the more analogue spectrum in the genre is only released on vinyl. (think Diamond & Pearls and related labels)

They all still have circular artwork to falsely imply there's a real vinyl, and that's good enough for me.

At work we're getting ready to release our software to our beta customer, who is none other than Troy, MI, an inner-ring suburb of Detroit. So this is pretty fitting music to listen to as I try to get all my work done on time. Some absolutely great melodies and atmospherics, you really nailed that lush, melodic techno vibe I love so much.

I'll write some more stuff later, but suffice to say this is the best techno mix I've heard all year.

Haven't seen him play in ages, but he is pretty versatile. Deep bag and such. Mostly experienced him during the high bpm boom boom shakashaka days. Solid flow.

I'll peep this time permitting, hard to listen to too much boom boom these days. Looks great I hate Skyscraper, but maybe in a different context I'll be sold. DL either way.

I always stereotyped detroit techno as simplistic dated late 80's music but this mix has made me a believer. I had no idea detroit techno was able to diversify and stretch its sound without becoming another subgenre.

To be honest, until I saw Derrick May when I was in Barcelona I had a similar idea of what "Detroit Techno" meant. I expected him to play stuff like Cybotron and Strings Of Life and just be an '80s nostalgia act, but he was playing this kind of energetic, inventive techno and every track had so many interesting structures and ideas. I suddenly understood exactly why people get so snobby about the whole Detroit thing - this style makes most other modern techno sound like exactly the kind of dull BOOM-BOOM shit it is.

I really enjoyed this. Didn't know what to expect, but it was lush, vibrant and well paced set. Technically good and superbly programmed.

Thanks a lot, glad it hit the spot. The first time I mixed it the intro was absolute bollocks, no flow at all. I went back and did it again with some different tracks and it felt, as you say, a very well paced climb for the first 30-40 minutes.

I played with him in October and he was kind of....generic. Lots of tech house with some quality techno mixed in. It was weird. Nice guy though, been sending me promos for his label since. I actually played the track you included, Patch Bay, to like 1,000 people the other week. It was nice.

As for the mix, well it looks up my ally so I look forward to checking it out

This mix was too banging for my taste.

I think you should have kept the lush and deep atmosphere, from the beginning of the mix, longer than you did. The banging part started too early. Dope tracks thought.
